      TIRE QUESTION! how to determine total hight??

      howdy everyone, this is probably a stupid question but Ill ask anyway, I am running 17's on my camaro right now. Im moving up to 18's but I want the same exact ride hight, I am running 225-45-17 up front NOW and 285-40-17 in the rear NOW. what size profile will make up for that inch Ill be gaining in rim size? Ill have to drop my profile size....how is that measured?? basiclly I need to lose an inch when moving to 18's ....any help would be great! thanks!

      Lets see

      (225mm x 0.45) = 101.25mm

      101.25mm - 25.4mm= 75.85mm

      75.85mm / 225mm = 0.337 ---> 35 profile tire up front...

      And 285/40-17 ---> 285/30-18

      so based on that math, your overall tire diameter up front is 24.972 now.
      a 225/35 would give you 24.200 and a 225./40 would be 25.08 overall.

      I thought about the x2 there but i figured it couldn't be because if thats the case i would have 5.5" of sidewall... That sounded too much too me so i dropped the x2...

      Have to measure it someday though

      Even easier, go to Tire Rack and punch in your tire and hit specs. It shows all tire demensions and width of rim measured on. I would use MFG measurements as not all same size tires measure the same. You will see different measurements from dif mfg within the same size.
