      Paint for master cylinder??

Is there any paint out there that will stand up to brake fluid? I want to paint the exterior of my master cylinder and want something that will stay on.

There isn't much, but I use Polane from Sherwin Williams for anything that might come in contact with brake fluid (firewalls, etc). Only comes in black and stinks like heck. I've had a few spills that sat for quite a while and didn't even cause a blemish.

You have to buy it at Sherwin Williams Industrial Coatings, BTW, not a standard SW store.

I have had good luck with POR15, sliver. My dad, on the other hand, hasn't, but I swear his master cylinder is pourus.

Use a synthetic brake fluid and it is less like paint stripper. Then most paints should stand up to it.

None that I know of except maybe cost. Synthetic brake fluid has a higher boiling point than DOT 3 as well

Use a spray bottle full of soapy water. Spray down the surrounding areas and be very carefull. You could also disassemble and powdercoat if your guy is good.

I think Valvoline??makes a synthetic blend that is not as caustic.

I'd avoid Valvoline synthetic. Several of us tried it in our C6 Corvette clutch hyd systems and they boil faster than regular DOT non-synthetic fluids, causing the clutch pedal to stick to the floor. The Prestone synthetic works much better.
