Project No Mercy - 85 Buick Regal

      Afternoon,

Well the fun is about to begin. I've had the suspension in the car for while now. Now I get to start the fun stuff, I purchases a ratted out 75 Caprice with a bone stock 400 in it. Let the building begin, mods that will be updated in here as I proceed over the next few weeks:

      Arizen Racing seats - Ordered
Engine build up - to start next week
      3.42 Posi upgrade
      Th350 build-up - started

For those of you that have read this, I want to paint the engine block a gunmetal or charcaol color. Who out there can recommend some paint?
I am going for the very industrial look in this engine bay.

CHROME I DON'T NEED NO STINKIN CHROME!

I will post pictures tomorrow of the Buick and that ratted out Caprice donor car.

If you take the URL referenced by one of them - http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b2...Picture114.jpg - and plug that into IE, you get a "not found" error. Perhaps you have to make your pictures "public" or the like?

Thanks, that car was a great find. I saw the guy and followed him into a parking lot and skd him if he wanted to sell the car. Turns out it was the Auto Trader office, his dad just died and it was his car.

I bought it 2 years ago with 16,000 original miles on the odometer.

Sounds like fun. I wish I would have notched my frame further than I did. I am going to have to SQUEEZE my 295's in. Have fun.

Wow... great luck on getting the car in that shape! You sure weren't kidding about that engine being nasty. That thing is nasty with a capital GROSS! Where'd you find the Caprice, at the bottom of a tar pit?

Kudos for going industrial on the engine bay. I am getting more anti-bling everyday I swear. Don't get me wrong, it looks fantastic on the right cars, but people are starting to treat it like a bandaid.

Winterpeg! My dad lives in Winnipeg.

I really like that car. I've never been a huge fan of the 78-88 2 door cars, but I really like that Buick. The way the headlight and grill assemblies are separate works really well on that car.

I have been painting most of my performance engine Cast-Blast as a sign or calling card. I do how ever give customer choice for colors.
Its super tough and you can clear it also so it lasts longer. They also sell one called Aluma-Blast too for the clean aluminum look.
We faked out some dirt buner types as I did a fellas street stock car engine and we wanted to fake them out after the rules finally letting in aluminum intakes changed so we painted it all Aluma-Blast. Funny thing was we built it as a short stroke (3.25) 400 and used an old World block, was awesome to see him run away from everyone (and the fact the GMPP heads had GM casting numbers and passed tech). Dont get me wrong most of the other guys were cutting off the ends of stock cylinder heads and welding them to aftermarket heads, heck they were even cutting out the casting numbers and having them welded in too. WE just used some old worn out heads.
We have since gave up on the round dirt dyno.
He is now Pro touring his grandmothers 72 Grand Am! He has a huge by large 600CID (I think) Poncho coming and then we get to have fun as I believe its aluminum block.
      Anyway Cast Blast block paint.
