How much can I grind on rear LS1 calipers
I know there probably is no set answer, but for some of the guys with experience, perhaps you can shed some light.
I need to grind on the calipers, and I have already started to, but can you let me know what is a reasonable amount?
I have 15" welds on my car, and I still scraping with a 5/16" spacer. I can probably order some 7/16" spacers, but anything more than that and my tires will rub too much on the panel.
Any pictures are appreciated as well.
Thanks.

I had 15x8 draglites on my 99 with no spacers. I have heard of people grinding through.

Really? That is what I have, and definately scraping. I can see the marks on the wheels and calipers.

I have heard of people gringing through the body of the caliper and into the piston /fluid area. I ground the hell out of the ones on my 99 until the draglites fit with no spacer. I never broke through. grind, check, grind, check..etc.

Thanks Chris...that is good info.
I don't think there is a chance in the underworld that I could get to the fluid portion, as that is only on the inboard side and I am grinding on the outboard.
Any chance you have pictures of what you did?
I can't seem to locate my dykem spray (for marking) so I have been using a sharpie, believe it or not, marking the caliper, putting on the wheel/tire, spinning it, and grinding where the ink was removed.
I guess I will get there. I was dead center before with the drum brakes and 5/16" spacer, and I need all the room I can get with 275/60/15 tires on the back. I may buy some 255/60/15 M/T ET Drag Radials but I need the wheels to fit first.
Many thanks.

You dont need a marker, you can see by spinning the wheel the spot where it was hitting
