welding on the booster brake rod???

woudl welding ont he booster brake rod be safe? i am installing a LS1 booster into my 69 and i am trying to figure out how i want to mount the clevis. the LS1 rod is to short so i have to lengthen it. I do not doubt my welding skills but i worry about the metal being brittle. THIS IS NOT MY PIC but this is what i am talking about.

      welding brake rod

I used a booster off a 97 f body to fit in a 68 firebird. I shorted the rod and slid a long coupling nut over the two seperate sections and welded them together and then to the coupling nut. It should be the safest way to do it because the sleeve the copling nut acts as strengthens any weakness caused by the cuttting and welding the rod.

yep, or a tube with the same ID and the shafts OD and rosette weld a few holes at each end. I would not fully weld its circumfrence.

I doubt if they would make a brake rod brittle. It would be one of the most durable pieces on the car.
