      New guy with Ford Maverick

      Just thought I would join to get some Ideas for my 1972 Ford Maverick. Ive done a few things to it.
      -stiffened stock suspension(poly bushings and swaybars)
      -lowered the front
      -undated some of the interior(seats)

      A friend of mine had a Grabber GT when we were in highschool....fairly respectable power in that car back then...I expect some modern EFI power in one of those would make it really scoot.
      1970 RS/SS350 139K on the clock:
      89 TPI motor w/ 1pc rear seal coupled to a Viper T56 via Mcleod's modular bellhousing w/ hydraulic T/O bearing from the Viper, 12 bolt rear w/ 3.73 gearing, SC&C upper control arms, factory lowers with Delalums, C5 brakes at all four corners, Front Wheels 17x8's with Sumi 255/40/17 and Rear Wheels 17x9's with Sumi 275/40/17.

      Agreed, and correct me if I'm wrong here but I'm thinking that there are a good amount of aftermarket suspension components available that along with some updated running gear should make it competitive with most of the stuff out there in a platform that is not really seen much anymore. I think I just talked myself into one of these.

      welcome, question for you: whats the widest tires you can fit on that car?

      I am considering building a maverick next and just want to get ideas of where the build may go.

      yes sir there certainly are parts for the mavericks, i just dont have th funds for them right now, I am planning on running an EFI 302 out of an 1998 ford explorer.

      and yes those are 17 inch slots, 7 inch in the front-8 in the back

      biggest ive seen without tubbing or mini tubbing is 275 with a rolled fender, with perfect backspacing

      cool car. Does the maverick require the shleby drop to obtain a negative camber curve.

      sorry but what do you mean negative camber curve, the front wheels will stay straight up not at an angle?

      Welcome aboard. Your registration is out. Are you the guy from LA from the MMB?

      Yes you can get a negative camber curve doing the Shelby drop. Im using the TCP tubular control arms with the drop built in.

      Im running a 245/45-17 on the front and 275/40-17 on the rear but have also had the wheel wells modified to accommodate the wider stance.
