      1964 Impala Brake Conversion

I just got a 64 SS Impala. It's currently lowered and has some 20's on it. I am planning to install an air ride Technologies kit in the very near future. I'm definitely upgrading to front disc brakes and am considering upgrading the rear too. At this point, if I go "all the way" with it, I'm leaning toward the PerformanceOnline.com 13" drop spindle front kit and thier 12" rear kit.

Any experience with this kit or suggestions on a better one?

      Thanks!

      pol brake kit

it just so happens that my builder ordered that same kit for my 64 imp. I dont know much about the quality of the kit but he assures me that its a good kit for the money . I go to goodguys here in charlotte every year & if my cars done by then, ill definately drive it there.

Here's a link to an earlier post that discusses lowering spindles. I know you don't have a camaro but alot of the geometry stuff still applies. https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=209

You'd probably be better off getting springs, and then doing a brake conversion. That kit you were looking at did seem like a good deal though. You might want to try contacting touring classics because they sell brake kits very similar to what you where looking at only a little better. They use the PBR calipers also but use the c5 corvette style which is more rigid than the pbr c4 caliper used by the performance online kit. They don't show a kit for a 64 impala but call them cause they may have a kit anyway. www.touring-classics.com

The car is already lowered, but I'm planning to do the brake conversion when I have it apart to install the air ride. The air ride kit will work with either spindle. A lot of the problems in that thread seemed Camaro specific. I can find front disc kits that use the stock spindle, but they're only stock GM truck 12" single piston kits.
