isn't the general consensus the actual shell fit and finish is great, it's just the other aftermarket parts (front clip) that are a pain in the ass?

we have a customer contemplating finding a repairable one or just getting a new one

Some of the comments I've read on this board and on http://www.camaros.net have not been very flattering. Someone slammed them on one they saw at sema last year or the year before. I personally have not seen one. They said the 1/4 tail panel area was horrendous not even put together right.

Why buy a dynacorn replica when you can have the real thing for less: www.musclecarmetal.com? Dynacorn is a total replica (no VIN or title) and is $13,500. Tony at Musclecar Metal's work is amazing, comes with a Title and VIn (it is built from a REAL car skeleton) and is much less expensive. Tony can do any year 1st gen Firebird or Camaro, coupes and converts. He also offers a complete rolling chassis. You can also negotiate better pricing than what is listed on his site. For starters he will give you a $1K credit if you have a rotted shell to trade-in...regardless of condition.

Tony is only 15 minutes from me and I have been able to inspect each step of his build process. His work is very impressive. I will take more pics of the seam areas this weekend. You can't even see daylight through them WITHOUT ANY SEAM SEALER! He's a true craftsman building 1 at a time.

I know that he will sell a shell (firewall to tail pan) for $9-$10K and he sold a roller on eBay last week for $11.6 (and that is a true roller from fenders & hood, to tail pan with all sandblasted suspension components). Not sure if he would regularly sell a roller that cheap though. Give him a shout and tell him I sent you. ;-)

Are you a restoration shop? I know he is in the process of establishing a dealer network.

Dynacorn has an "assembly line" approach to building these...not surprised to hear this. And I heard a rumor that they will soon be taking the manufacturing to Asia. Not sure if that is true or not, but that should do wonders for the quality if true.

I was told that they have an East Coast and a West Coast assembly facility, but soon all will be assembled overseas, not sure if this is true or not. Regardless, the panels are stamped overseas, so it only makes sense that assembly will be done there too (if it isn't already).

I have a buddy that is building the bodies for Dynacorn (Sal at American Muscle Cars). I've heard that the early bodies did have several issues, but I understand that the issues have been worked out. I'm not sure what I can and can't disclose so let me just suggest that if you have any questions, drop an email to [email protected]

The aftermarket Camaro bodies are still a fairly new market. I don't think it will be very long before you'll be able to order a body customized to your needs (mini-tubbed, prepped for different rear suspension, etc.)

So far, really well!

...I have only had the bottom, firewall, trunk, and jams final painted, with the rest of the body being left in primer as I reassemble.

If you are starting with a total "swiss cheese" shell, it is worth giving Tony a call.

I had my shell and had already purchased a project car and all of the metal it needed (which was just about everything) before finding him. He advertises $12.5K for a full shell but has sold several on eBay for $9K. He will also give you a $1k discount for providing your own basket case.

As I mentioned I had already purchased all the body parts (about $4K) and provided him with the shell, so he did the assembly of mine for $4k. So my new shell was a total of $8K + the original cost of purchasing the project car.

Keep in mind, this does not include bodywork which is being done by a different shop (Tony doesn't do bodywork, just the metal work).
