How many times can sheetmetal be media blasted

I was given a orignal 68 Camaro door this weekend, but it had been media blasted and then left bare for about 2 years it's pretty much covered in surface rust. I was just wondering if blasting it again would thin it out to much. The guy I got it from does not remember what kind of media was used he just knows it was not sand. Other than that the door has no other damage.

Try checking into soda (baking) blasting. It is not harmful to the metal and leave a squeaky clean finish!!

You can have it blasted again, it'll be fine. I would just make sure that it was, in fact, bead blasted the first time. If they used sand the panel will have warped due to heat and will be wavy.

If you use SODA , make sure you wash the entire part down with water and dry it off right away.
BUT YOU HAVE TO WASH IT !

I have parts Soda blasted quite often by a local individual - it does a real good job !

soda will not do much to remove the rust though. It is for removing paint. I had my fenders soda blasted and you can still see a faint image of some of the decals but all of the paint is gone. I had my trunk lid dipped and it looks like a brand new bare metal panel just out of the press.
