Best final wax, glaze, or whatever you use?

Like always I am just looking for new products to try. Sometimes you always use the same thing and there is a product that really works better. I usually finish off with 3M hand glaze and than with Maguiars wax (yes after paint is cured and there are no touch ups needed). Anybody using something that is better especially on dark cars. There are some big dollar Zymol products out there??? Please only products that you are actually using. Either backyard guys or shops. Thanks Brian

i had the same thought at the parts store one day and thought what the heck. this was after i took my single stage dk red truck to the auto car wash (free coupon). it is my daily driver, so, oh well. there is this final rinse that has a chemical in it called polythane. it turned VERY pink!!!!
i tried meguires #7 machine glaze - a little better.
then #26 wax - a little better.
then cleaner wax paste - no change.

trip to advance and came home with the fx wax.
truck is instantly dk red again - very happy.

then my brother buffs hid black 86 t/a with all 3m products - looks horrible.
then mothers liquid wax - no change.
came to my house tried some meguires cleaner paste - better.
then fx wax - it looks as good as a c6 we saw at the cruise in tonight.

he is ecstatic.

as a final glaze, i usually use a product that used to be called "bollet", they have changed the name to "eurotech9000". house of kolor also has a glaze product that works well. if your looking for just a wax, i used the meguires show car stuff, carnuba based, no abrasives, i usually apply it, then use a foam pad on a d.a. to buff it out. and these new micro-polish cloths (parts house, walmart, fred meyers, paint store) they are great, use em once and throw em away

another Zaino guy here! Used to use Meguires Gold class crap and some of their other stuff (with the numbers, the professional series stuff). Switched to zaino to see what the Hype was about and will NEVER go back! Do some internet searches for polish or wax tests and see what others have to say.

zaino is a sealant, and by nature gives a really nice shine, but not much depth relative to traditional waxes. it lasts forever though

One big thing you have to realize is your final coat is not the key-prepping the paint under the top coat is where the best shine comes from.

here's what i reccomend, presuming your paint is in decent shape:

1) wash your car thoroughly, twice just for good measure. leave it wet.
2) wipe the whole car down with a 50/50 mix of alcohol and water. this is better than dawn for the paint, believe it or not. this step removes all the old wax and crap from the paint, taking you down to bare paint. rinse the car thoroughly after this, then dry it.
3) claybar the whole car, twice if necessary. it should feel like satin when you're done.
4) use a quality fine rubbing compound or scratch remover to clean up any scratches. come back with a swirl remover to clean up any swirl marks or marks left from the rubbing compound. this can be done by hand or by machine, but i usually work by hand.
5) use a fine hand polish to really bring out the gloss in the paint.
6) use a quality sealant to seal up the paint and prep it for wax. if you want to use zaino, use it here.
7)now you wax. For a normal car (and what i normally use), go with p21s.

voila. mucho shiny, mucho deep.

I will order some of the Zaino to give it a try. I usually use 3m and then finish up with a quality wax. Tried Meguairs Gold and was pretty impressed on a drak color car. Zero residue and nice depth. Thanks I guess I was looking to see if anybody had tried any of the big dollar Zymoil or other $100 waxes ????

in my experience, the big dollar zymols arent that great...they're nice, but not as nice as some of the other stuff out there.

there is a wax test online somewhere (Searched for it for you, link here) that some NSX guy did on an old hood. he used Meguires, zaino, the cheap and the expensive Zymols, and i think something else. Anyway, he found that the Cheap zymol worked as good or better than the expensive Zymol. So do not waste the money on any Zymol.

With regards to wax, I have always used Zymol or Meguires Gold Class for my everyday vehicles, my Corvette, and my 69 Camaro Convertible. Last summer I was in the speed shop and noticed the new Meguires Techwax. It was reasonably priced at about $14.00 so I figured I would give it a try as I like Meguires products. I tested it on my GMC Denali and Cadillac SRX first and was impressed that it was the easiest wax I had ever used. The finish was fantastic. I then tried it on my Camaro (BMW Estoril Blue color) and found that it made the paint jump and when placing a towel on the hood it would just slide off. I brought it to a cruise night the next day and tried it on the rear quarter of a buddy's black 65 Corvette and he couldn't believe how black that quarter panel looked and how smooth the finish was. I can't comment on how long it lasts as I wax fairly often. I know this sounds like a commercial but I haven't found a better product under $300.00 (I was one of the idiots who bought Zymol out of the back of Car and Driver).
