      Bleeding brakes

Ok.I'm a big advocate of brake fluid flushing as part of routine maintenance.

That said, I recently replaced all three of the flexible brake hoses on my '69 Camaro. (original / stock brake system). They were showing some cracks.

When I flushed and bled the system ,The rear bled just fine, but I continued to get air from the front bleeders.( I usually use a bleeder bottle with a clear hose and sometimes a mighty-vac)

I finally realized that the air I was getting was being pulled from around the threads of the front bleeder screws.( like where they screw into the top of the caliper) So I put a little non-hardening pipe sealer on the threads and the problem went away. I had the front brakes bled in 5 minutes.

Just thought I'd share the advise with everyone.

first of all you need to make sure you didnt have double copper washers on the caliper or bolt, also using them over somes times works but you have to watch how they come off. also most caliper bolts should be repalced when changing the hoses I have had numerous times of the bolts not goin into the caliper right, and I have better luck if I tap out the caliper bolt hole to get out all the crud and rust as some new hoses may not have the brass "head" as thick as the old ones.
I tend to avoid any type of sealers on brakes, except when you have a flare nut leaking , then I twistup a section of thread tape into a rope , wrap it behind the flare, then slide thenut down, and thread tape the nut too.
It works great and the potential of contaminating the system is minimal.
I also have a Phoenix Injector that makes bleeding very cool.
