Front Brake Upgrade? '05 Suburban Daily Driver

      question regarding my daily driver....

i have an '05 suburban 1500 w/ 9,000 miles (okay, maybe not driven every day). i think it could stop waay better.

are there any easy fixes i can do? i don't want to spend the big $ for a full Baer kit or anything, i just want to stop better, especially when full of passengers.

-do the 2500 models have bigger brakes that i could pickup inexpensive rotors & calipers from rockauto and just fit them right on?

-would a simple pad swap make much of a difference from stock?

      thx in advance
      Scott.

The Hawk pads make a Huge difference when installed with faced rotors and bedded in properly! The 2500 thing won't work as they go from 6 to 8 lug. The SSBC upgrades have also shown to be a cost effective upgrade as well.

Getting the rotors faced or turned so that there is a new flat surface for the new pads to mate with. Bedding is simply stated as setting the mating surfaces of rotor face and pad together. This is usually done through a series of progressively higher speed stops (not sudden stops and not barely tapping the brakes, just normal braking).
