Power to manual steering box second gen

I've read of guys using eaither early second gen manual boxes and repro ptiman arms or S-10 manual boxes, the PS pitman, but often a different rag(or Borgeson) joint.

What's the best way? Different ratios?

Just put a AGR box on my 97 truck. Kind of weird, more effort to the right and wants to return to center from right but not left. Fctory box didn't really return form either side, only so much caster adjustment. So seems to be an issue with the right turn off center.

Sounds like an alignment issue, I doubt it's the box's fault though. The factory box might have been sloppy or worn enough to mask whatever is causing the problem.

      budget P/S gear box

On my 68 camaro I used a gear box from an 84 Z-28. Used the original P/S pitman arm from the 68. Took the spring and valve assembly out of the 84 P/S pump placed it in the 68 P/S pump. Had a hydrolics shop make me a pressure side P/S hose. For the rag joint I used one from a 81 chevy truck (I think). It has the correct bolt pattern for the 68 camaro steering shaft and the correct small splines for the 84 camaro gear box. This swap should work on a 2nd gen f-body car too. I spent about $50 total. Of course the car had firmer feel on the road just like a 3rd gen camaro. I'm currently putting the serpentine belt drive from a 95 chevy 1/2 ton on my 81 Trans Am with a sbc motor. I do not see the point in spending $700 on the serpentine system from GM when I got every thing from the junkyard for under $200. That includes the A/C compressor, P/S pump, Alternater, reverse running water pumpt with fan, all the bolts, thermostat houseing etc...I'll post when it's up and running.

Alignment is on recentlydone, but effort one direction is way more. I would think pump or alignment would affect both ways. Caster should center it both directions the same , no pull like toe in,out issues.

The manual S-10 boxes or Flaming River boxes seem to be the manual boxes of choice.
