Quick product review.. remote trunk release

Installed the Modo Innovations electric trunk latch on Saturday. Thought I would give my review.

      1. Took less than an hour to do (with wiring)
      2. I needed NOTHING that wasn't in the kit - every screw, wire crimp and part is included. That's a nice touch.
      3. I did the install with only three tools: 7/16 ratchet, phillips screwdriver and a wire crimper.
      4. I works like a dream.

Note on the wiring.. there's only ONE wire.. you don't even have to screw with a ground wire. The only flaw I could find, if I had to be picky, was that he TRUNK sticker on the included bezel wouldn't stay stuck. Didn't matter since I hid the button and didn't use the bezel, but still needed to be mentioned.

Now it will be an easy deal to fill my gas tank up (it's filled in the tank)

Big thumbs up to Modo Innovations for a really nice and nicely put together product.

Without giving away your secret, could you post a pic of the thing installed??
Curious to see the "catch" piece installed n the truck lid.

Get out of here! You put your gas in the tank too???!! I thought I was the only one!!

      Just messsing with ya Steve!

Great write up, seems easy enough. I guess they use the body as a ground? Is this just for the Camaro? Or are all GM cars the same? I'd be interested in one for my Chevelle.

This kit fits the 67-69 Camaro/Firebird.

The Chevelles and Novas have to have some trimming on the trunk lid. The trimming is for the wider latch. The new latch is about 1" thick compared to the 1/2" thickness(or so) of the stock latch. I am still working on this.

Thanks Steve, exactly the view I was after.
I couldn't quite picture how that would attach.

      $169..

The bezel is there if you want to use it. The switch can be mounted anywhere and is about the same size the factory switch that was in my old 5.0 Mustang. You could use the momentary switch of your choice.

Very cool. Glad to hear it went well. I didn't get time to install mine yet. I hope to tackle the trunk area in a few weeks. I'm still collecting parts to do Marquez tail light housings, AAW LED lights, Modo trunk release, battery mounts and hole in my trunk to access the in-tank pump I hope to have installed soon. I think the only thing I have left to find are optima battery mounts that meet NHRA rules.

Does the key still work on this or can it only be opened using the button?

You can use either or. The good thing about still having the key function is...even if the battery is dead you still have access to your trunk, especially if you have your battery mounted in the trunk.

I have had several people ask the question, " I have shaved my key locks, what do I do if the battery goes dead"?

I have a simple sketch that shows how to make a cable pull set up for the latch if you have shaved locks. I have provided this to several customers with this issue.

I plan on making a cable pull kit eventually...I need more hours in the day.
