      suspension freaks

I'm working on the suspension of my 68 Camaro and I'm trying to figure out which combo to run. What's the better combo? (Car will see street and some track)

      1) AFX spindles with stock arms and delrin bushings

      2) GW arms with Guldstrand mod

      3) SC&C arms with Guldstrand mod

      4) Stock arms with guldstrand mod and delrin bushings

I've searched a bunch of threads but haven't found a clear answer.

is there a benefit to running the afx spindle vs. a tall balljoint or the guldstrand mod? (other then weight, they're kind of pricey)

Well I may be a little biased but....

      1) AFX spindles GOOD, stock arms bad. With the tall spindles you won`t be able to get very good alignment specs out of it and if the car`s lowered also you`ll be running short on ball joint travel in bump. Combine those spindles with our adj. arms (StreetComp-AFX) and you`ve got the HOT setup. The AFX tall spindles do a great job of improving the geometry (roughly twice as good as the G Mod) AND they correct almost all of the factory bumpsteer. Our arms allow total adjustability and more + caster than stock arms.

      2) You`ll get more + caster from the arms. The G mod will give you a little better camber curve (roughly neutral) and slightly higher RC height (about ground level). Better than stock but nothing Earth shaking.

      3) If you make that a StreetComp Stg.1 or 2 that`ll work great. With stock height spindles and the G mod you may loose a little droop travel with our arms otherwise. You could also skip the G mod and go straight to a Stg.1 or 2-Plus with the X tall Severe Duty upper ball joints. Then there`s no need for the G mod.

      4) You may still have to make some alignment compromises and the geometry will be similar to 2) except with less +caster gain. The delrin bushings are good but since the upper arms are much more lightly loaded than the lower arms they`d make much more difference down there. Again, overall better than stock but nothing to write home about.

Oops just saw your last post. The AFX spindles have larger wheel bearings and handy integral C5/C6 brake brackets. The tall BJs can be used with or without the G Mod to achieve geometry from mild to full race. The most aggressive is actually more so than the tall AFX spindles but I don`t recomend it for most applications. Any of the Plus packages have more aggressive geometry than the G mod alone but less so than the AFX tall spindles. Combining our std. tall ball joints with the G mod is roughly comparable (just slightly milder) than the tall AFX spindles. The AFX spindles correct most of the factory bumpsteer by moving the steering arm mounting holes to lower the outter tie rod ends. We achieve the same result by using taller tie rod ends to achieve the same steering geometry. Two different means of achieving the same ends. Mark SC&C
