      350 w/bigger crank?

      i have a 350 im going to rebuild as a stroker. my question is what cubic inch will it be.


      here is what im working with

      350 4bolt
      4.030 piston
      6.000 rods
      4.000 crank

      sounds like a 383

      with a 3.75 crank it would be a 383 but what about a 4.00 crank

      It works out to around 408cubic inches
      We have one in one of are race cars.. its a pretty good running motor.

      4" Crank in a factory block is a massive PITA, I wouldn't do it.
      3.875" crank is as big as I like to go in a OE casting
      Not to mention that running a 4" crank with a 6" rod is going to put the ring lands way into the piston pin. Forget about turbos, superchargers and Nitrous

      He is right, I guess I should have mentioned that when we did ours it was in a bowtie block, OE castings can be pretty weak

      Crower, Lunati, and Scat come to mind right off the bat. With a 4.030 bore it makes a 396cid smallblock

      You will have to use a smal base circle cam with that large a stroke. Most of the time it's not worth trying to get that extra bit out of it. Pistons become too much of an issue. If you want more cubes start with a 400 or Dart Block, it's much safer and easier.

      Also SCAT would be your most cost effective manufacturer. For Crower, Callies, or Lunati you would be looking at 2-4k

      ok this is what its looking like,

      stock 350 4bolt machine to fit 3.75'' crank
      5.7'' or 6'' rods ( whats the big deal about longer rods?)
      3.75'' crank
      flat top piston
      vortec heads w/2.02 intake
      RPM airgap intake
      speed demon 750

      dont know about cam yet

      RE: longer rods
      You could read all day and still ask the same question.
      I tend towards 6" rods in a 383 as they make it easier to internal balance them.

      After fitting the Vortec heads with bigger valves, springs, retainers, screw-in studs ect, you are in the price range for a good aluminum head. Money better spent.

      You won't build another 350! (IMO) Bigger valves are better, smaller valve heads will suffer. longer stroke motors like to breath! like one of the other post mentioned your getting up to aluminuim head territory with alot of machine work springs studs guideplates etc, unless you already have the heads.
