I have a '76 Malibu... I found a suspension place that makes lower controller arms they list as '1" longer than stock'

What does this do for your ride? I'm curious why someone would want these?

I'm curious too, it could be that it makes your ride softer and could also be it gives you more grip because you have a wider wheelbase. Someday I may decide to try them. Who makes them?

Front or rear?

Front: You would reduce your scrub-radius which is good, but unless the spring is moved further outboard also, the motion ratio would be worse.

Rear: I don't know about the G-body cars, but I know the 94-96 Impala SS guys use longer rear arms to center the rear wheel in the wheelwell, which are located about 1" forward of the wheelwell center line from the factory.

If they're rears, it could be that they are making them longer for the retards that lift their cars to clear 24"+ wheels also.
