      muscle car tv today.

Did anyone see the muscle car tv today. Did you by chance catch what front steer spindles those where he put on that subframe?

Did they need any mods to fit the stock ball joints?

They were 2" drop Bell-tech S-10 spindles. He also used these same spindles on a Mustang II based Heidts front suspension that he put into a '65 Mustang. He acted like, fix the bumpsteer and you're good to go!

I think they have hugely oversimplified the situation. I can't remember the rack that they were using, but I got the impression that it was a generic "fit-all" type of rack? I think the price was only a couple hundred bucks.

My thought process is that even if by some chance a dropped S-10 spindle created correct or even better geometry in one of those two setups, it wouldn't in the other. Unless they've done some serious homework and modified the suspension points to work with that spindle, I can't imagine that it would work well. Maybe for a straight-line car?

If either of these setups work, someone can correct me, but I'm having a hard time buying into it.

What are your guys thoughts on the modified subframe, where they cut out a 14" section of the crossmember and replace it with 1" square tubing and a couple braces. Probably okay for a mild motor...

Yeah, I was a little concerned about that fab work on the frame. Then again, i don't know crap about metal, stress, frames, etc.

Looked weird, and possibly not as strong as before the frame mod.

      muscle car TV front steering

Can anyone help me. I just caught the end of muscle car tv on spike tv and wanted more info. this episode (mc2007-04) aired on january 28 and today febuary 3. Lou had made a budget rack and pinion set up. I would like to know what parts to use for this. I think the spindles were from a droped s-10. I dont know what the rack was from or the tie rods? Anyone one have info on this set-up or a similar one?

Tie rod ends were from a 71 camaro. I think the rack was from steeroids.

I agree that the frame mods where scary looking looks like it could buckle onto itsself. Wheel 2 wheel did close to the same thing but with more bracing.

I saw the spindles he used and wondered if someone made something that fit specifically to our subs but I guess not. Im not down with dropped spindles.

In my opinion his set up looked like it would bump steer.

I recall that the tie rods end were from a Thunderbird and the rack was from one of the chassis houses like Chassis Works.

I saw it...had to shut it off. Think of those shows like you would StarTrek, lots of technical stuff, most of it made up as they go. Mark SC&C

im with Marcus on that one. that rack looked like it wasn’t even close to wide enough which would cause a pretty thrilling ride (not in a good way) if you ever intended to drive it hard. might work in a trailer queen street rod.... but none of our cars

the rack needs to be wide enough so its pivots line up with the SAI other wise she'll bump steer
