      Nascar..protouring??

Ive been thinking....would the nascar look be considered pro-touring? I have an 88 monte carlo SS...duh...and want to do the pro-touring look....but also like the nascar look. My front suspension is already done with a SC&C stage 2 kit...im thinking about doing the hot rods to hell rear truck arm set up...and I have a nascar boom tube exhaust. But the thing thats killing me is the wheels/tires. I want to get some nice 17's or 18's...but they are way too much $ and the last set I had rode like crap. I have 16's on there now and it rides so much better. I was thinking about getting some 16" Diamond racing wheels....but that would go against the whole "pro-touring" thing. I dunno...just confused.

as long as the car performers what is the difference, there are several nascar inspired cars around here. not to mention that body monte was a nascar ride. hell there are all kind of subgenres evolving around pro-touring. streetfighters, the soft lexus like performers, whatever. as long as it hauls the mail what is the diff. i would like to see your car as a stripped out nascar looking killer. later, Dan

So....do what you think YOU would like, don't worry about going against the grain....who knows, you might start a whole new revolution. Personally, I think the Nascar look is cool. (especially that era) Nothing wrong with being different.

I am all for doing something different. It is good think out side the box as they say. I have looked for 16 and 17" stock car wheels but have been unable to find them. Let me know if you find something that does not look like a truck wagging wheel. Randy

Rock on. I'm leaning toward that look myself. Aero makes some of those wheels in chrome also.

Aero makes them in 15" only...Diamond makes them in 16". The crager "sof 8" is almost the same style...and comes in a 17"...but im going to go with the Diamonds...since I will be actually racing it.

Go for it. I was thinking of this as well. I want to find some 17" rims that are cheap, light, and paintable (looking for white to match part of the body).

Circle Racing used to make 16" wheels. But upon checking their web site I see they discontinued them.

yeah the soft 8's are heavy but they look absolutely wicked when i stand them next to my duster, specially with the front spoiler cut back to size and the hoop from the cage in. sorry that is how i spent my sunday, building the hoop, cutting the spoiler down and placing the wheels next to it. needless to say i was sexually harrasing myself today. i'm still debating having a red pinstripe painted on my soft 8's. I've got a real woody for this circle track vibe we are building into the duster, it is fresh and wicked. to bad by the time i hit the street it will be yesterday. sicmonte do it now before it passes. and as for suede black dont do it , you dont want to look like you are mimicking a certain mopar! lol hahaha!, Dan
