      xxx Greetings from Thailand xxx

      Hi Y'all,

Greetings...from a far.. far away land....

A friend reco your site , all I can say is that ...yours is one of the best !

My current project involved a 1965 Mustang Coupe with 302 + some goodies i.e. Bracket Master II Lunati Cam , 19000 Weiand Manifold , Clevit Valve Springs, Sealed Power Pistons and Engine Kits, TrickFlow Intake Valves, Manley Exhaust Valves etc. Engine parts , as said , were all imported from the U.S. Engine restorations is completed and being dropped into the car.

My first intention was to keep this Mustang as lowest possible profile, but after a second thought I said to myself why not give the car a little more , how would you say,...." Kick Ass "..... Hence, the smaller 14 x 7 wheels are on the front and 15 x 11 at the rear. With a set of headers and crossed-pipe exhaust system, while the twin rear pipes would be 3.5" stainless steel, hopefully, they would make some sound that should scare the living........

Car color was silver with a touch of gold flake, but to match the above " Second Thought " , it would go through the painting once more and Black would be the color ...instead.

I gather there might be another 3 months , at least ,before it could hit the street.

      And I will keep y'all posted !

      Saluti,

      George Manont

Having ridden through the streets of Bangkok in a cab, I'd be terrified of getting out there in a nice ride like that! The again, it seemed like the biggest vehicle generally got the right of way, so maybe you can bully your way through the small asian cars and tuk-tuks :D.
I'm sure all of the country isn't like that though, I only saw a small and highly congested part of it. Hopefully you have some good open roads to drive it on.

I am always amazed when I read here that car nuts in remote places not only are into this love affair with cars, but actually build cars that are incredible.. When ever I find myself getting frustrated with finding parts and odds and ends, complaints about waiting 2 days for shipping. I bite my toungue. You my friend ...when I looked up "perseverence" in the dictionary.. Low and behold you are there. My utmost ..."GREAT JOB" keep us informed. ps.. I spent over 13 months in Vietnam/ cambodia Oh, I cant say Cambodia... my mistake... phil in USA

To Ralph ; Thank you kindly for the warm welcome, I feel very good here.

      To 4cruzin ; Thanks Bro.

To philbay ; Thanks for the comments. Yes, the waiting is a real pain.... Items coming from USA via Air freight is fast but ain't cheap , while ocean freight is cheaper but ain't fast. Local parts are close to zero. Yes sir, that's the price we pay ..for dealing with the muscle cars here !

By the way, were those 13 months your " service time " ? ....Glad to be alive !

To 69boo307 ; I agreed with you. Bangkok on week days could the last place to drive hot cars 'cause the weather and traffic wouldn't allow, ( not to mention the hit & run by tuk-tuks ) but on Sunday morning should be an OK , and that's always been the only choice we do.

I'll keep coming back & updating,

      Cheers,

      George manont

ps. posting down below are some of the Bangkok Mustangs ....and no , they are in no way "Pro-Touring"
      ...not now any way !

      SAWA DE CUP...

I know I butchered the spelling of that but Just wanted to say hello...

Fond memories of Thailand... And I dont mean PATPONG in Bangkok!! Those were nice too but the country is much more than that place. Dum nuk Thai, the snake farm, the outdoor market restaurant... I loved that place!! Traffic was kind of a madhouse though...

      Welcome..

      Welcome to the site.
the guy that owns the red car is a member on stangnet. IIRC it has either a supra or skyline engine in it because Ford engine are so hard to come by there. they completely built the entire car there and it was a pretty ragged looking shell when he got it.
Do you have a 69 or 70 stang? If so then check out www.69STANG.com

      Hi Y'all

I'm back, and after a 3-week engine-fitting session , just this morning the said engine was out of my '65 Mustang...getting ready for a second-time body paint job.

It would take another 30 days or so before the body work is ready. Meanwhile, I'll hang in there !

      .................................................. .........................

To ; bnickel.....Right , he's my young brother who also own a few other hot cars ie. a '69 Firebird with a mildly modified 455 , Big & Small Torq Thrust and few engine goodies.

To GTO Judge......Hi RP, I'm a Thai ...who have had some real good time back in my school days in Southern California ; with fond memories of a '69 GTX , a '67 Stingray , a '68 Charger , a '67 390 Mustang , a '69 RoadRunner and few other hot cars of the days.

American Cars are pretty hard to come by nowadays here in Thailand . We have to dig deep ...to rescue...to have real patient ...and ...may be to loose some arms and legs...to have our dream hot machines come alive.

To Mark....SawasDee Krap, Sounds like you know your way around here ! To other friends...PATPONG ...is a place where you could find just about anything and everything...all the while getting high and having fun like there's no tomorrow.

Traffic still as bad as ever be. But I'm still smiling !!!

      To VanSuuk1.....Thanks...hey..that's the compliment !

To HarryPR.......Thanks, the blue Mustang belongs to another friend...it has a mildly modified 289 .... with a Shelby-Cloning body.

      To BJ...Nookie is nice !

To Venomous Type..Thanks, hey I love the links you have there, especially the Black '67 Camaro ! Awesome !

To Philbay....Thanks , Phil. My lifestyle is rather bland...so I have to spice it up with hot cars...every once in a while....like now !

People here would always say...hot American Cars wouldn't work here due to many obstacles...but hey, I take that as a challenge.

Life is so short....chase your dream while you can......

      Love you all,

      George

The rumor that Asians can't drive was immediately dispelled when I got to Bangkok. Those Tuk Tuk drivers are just like Rodeo Cowboys. I love the way they've dolled them up and modified the engines. Nasty running 2 strokers belching smoke everywhere. Air is super dirty, but I loved the food, friendly people, and of course the Nookie. I'm coming back soon. Where can i go to get away from all the hustle and bustle and dirty air of Bangkok but still have great food and the NOOK..I loved the clubs. They treated us like rock stars. We were on the elevated dance floor with the girls and we had to bend over to keep from bumping the roof. I had a ball. I flew back with this guy that goes over every month or so. He stays at a beach nearby. Might have been one that got destroyed by the tsunami. Is any of that rebuilt now?

      Guys,

We left this thread idle since 2-12-2007 . At that time my project was no where.....

It is now completed. ( in fact it was since mid December last year)

To honor y'all, I'd named it " The FANGs ".

Would y'all like to have a look - see. It is yours as much as mine !

      Cheers,

      GM.
