Rear LS1 Swap - BRP Brackets - Need help

      Hi,

I purchased the rear LS1 conversion brackets from BRP and I am having some trouble finding out what parts I need for the swap -

I have a 1969 Camaro with staggered shocks. I have heard that you need two left setups for it to work.

I have been searching for days and I have not been able to find an exact list of part numbers or anyone who has documented the steps it takes for the installation.

Also, does anyone know how long my new studs should be for the new brakes to work?

      Thanks,
      Chris

Yes, you need 2 lefts to work with stag's.

Wheel studs, I recommend metric type, Dorman #610-323 or Napa 641-1581

      Chris,
Take a look at my old website: www.geocities.com/diels12000

I've got the part numbers there.

depends on shock location. you can redrill the plates to rotate them up out of the way if you really needed to. heres another alternative...

Old Joe? does this mean you are making a new one??

Thanks for all of the information.

BRP Sells a relocation kit that puts both shocks in from of the axle. Does anyone have an opinion on that kit?

I think the cost is right at $150

What do you do for parking brake cables if you keep the original pedal and intermediate cable setup?

I am pretty sure that the ls1 cables work if you run the L&R calipers and brackets.

Nope, you can't out engineer The General. They've already performed the homework and I just want to pass along the part numbers. Unlike some companies out there

      Hey Taylor,

      yes those would work perfectly,
Hammered, you can use the stock LS1 rear cables and brackets, you just have to modify the frame brackets to relocate them closer to the front.

No, your web site Joe....LOL silly are you doing a new web site?

I have a '67 so I can run a L & R and have the cables pull from the front. The bottom of my car is already detailed so cutting and welding is a very last resort. I wonder if I can get Inline Tube or someone to make a ******* cable to fit?

F****** Lokar dude. They can set you up. Just make bolt on brackets to secure the cables.

Metric is actually perfect in my case - I have ATS spindles and they have metric studs.

Phil (the owner) I actually a really nice guy. I am not sure why BRP doesn't get more discussion on here.

      part number and studs

You probably already got the part number for the left hand brackets, but just in case: 10444626

As for metric wheel studs... I could not find the knurl I wanted in 12mm for the fronts, so went with 1/2-20s instead. But the rears require no drilling to tap out for using 1/2-20 screw in studs. Just another option.

My eyes almost poped out of my head... and not just because of the great prices. vin

Thanks for the replies everyone. I think that I'll be doing the BRP shock relocation and regular L&R setup and adding some new longer studs to my axles. BRP will weld the parking break cable bracket to the lower shock mount and the setup is supposed to work really well.

I plan on taking pictures of the whole process because this stuff doesn't seem to be very well documented anywhere.
