I would think this is plenty strong for the street, otherwise companies like Chris Alston wouldn't sell their FAB9 with bracketry for all the common applications (tri-five, camaros, a-bodies, etc.). If someone didn't give me an older 9" housing for free I'd have gone with a setup like the one you're looking at. You can always put a brace on it for extra strength too. Probably the nicest thing about these housings is that the axles tubes are straight... if you get an older housing who's to tell it wasn't abused over the last 30 years and might need the tubes straightened.
