      C4 front susp

Does anyone have the over all track width of the 84-88 C4 corvette front suspension? outside of tire to outside of tire or hub to hub width. Also what length coilover would be needed? I believe the frame rails would need to be about 27.5 " inside width for the C4 crossmember to fit in, is that right?
      Thanks

      Jeff,
I measured it to be 28" a while back, but I'm not sure how precise that was.
I have the crossmember in the shop, so if you need it excactly I'll get it for you.

as for the hub to hub width I cant tell you before I get my suspension parts back from Norway, that is if I dont have it written down somewhere in the shop.

When you get to the coilovers let me know what you choose, as I havent ordered yet.
      Standard 84/88 C4 are 15" ext and 11 1/2" com = 3 1/2" stroke so I thought about the single adjustable koni's which are 15 1/2" extended and 10 3/4" compressed = 4 3/4" stroke.

I'd use the same ones in the rear where the std C4 shocks are 14 1/2" ext and 9 3/4" comp.

      ciao

Did a basic search on Yahoo. Lots 'o hits on data. Here's one:

      http://www.idavette.net/facts/87.htm

      And the answer is 59.6"

Seems kinda narrow so I checked the front track on my 68 with C4 suspension: Roughly 69" with inside width of my frame rails at 33.375". UCA cross-shafts are located inboard of frame rails

      Thanks,
The track as listed is center of tire to center of tire right?
      Anyone with Hub to hub?

84-87 rims have +38mm offset IIRC. Hub face width equals track width + offset x 2, assuming track width was measured at zero camber.

Assuming all numbers posted (including mine) are correct, hub face width is...
      59.7 + (+38 / 25.4) x 2 = 62.69"

      BTW, why 84-87? I'd look into 88 & up if there's a choice.

I assume you all ready know if you use the factory K member (crossmemeber), you will have to set the engine back under the dash?

I didn't know if I could find a wheel with enough offset to keep the tire under the fender with the newer stuff, though I know it's better.
Yeah I'm aware of the crossmember issues.
The application is for Project Evil Spirit (79 AMX) didn't think anyone's done one of them with C4 stuff before.
      Thanks a bunch!
