need a new hydraulic floor jack...

I am asking for input on a new floor jack - mine finally died after 20 some odd years of use. You guys have any recomendations that won't break the bank and will last. I am looking for a 3 ton.

      Thanks in advance.

I'm gonna go over to the Harbor Fright store and pick up one of their low-profile aluminum versions. I'll post here when I have it.

That would be good to know, even if I am trying to swear off buying from HF...

There is one at Costco I've been eyeing... I hate having to use one jack under the frame at the wheelwell just to get the car up high enough to use the floor jack!

Me too. I use the scissor jack from the trunk.

John, please let us know. Thank you.

Me, I have drive the car onto some 2x6s. It sucks, so I'm hoping this low profile jack works well.

      John,

I finally found the jack you are talking about. It looks like a good one. I will have to go look at it - maybe this weekend.

Year One show in May - I will probably go - especially to see IIMUCH in person. I look forward to meeting you there.

My new 3000 lb HF jack works great. It's low enough and small enough to get under the car. I've found that I now need both my jacks to raise the car up: the small and light one to get the body high enough so that my 7000 lb big boy can get under the car. I'll probably play around with trying to find a way to minimize my use of the bigger jack, and that's because the HF jack works just as advertised.

I have the NAPA 3.5 ton jack for about 5 years with no problems. When they are on sale they run about $150.00

      I bought one.....

I bought a Ac Hydraulics 2.2 ton jack. Tried it out last night and it works so smoothly. I rolls real nice and smooth. It is not as heavy as the last one I had and the foot controlled raise pedal works well - not sure if I will ever really need it though. So I highly recomend it. I called Esco and they told me of a local company to buy it from.

I bought my aluminum floor jack from Sears, its a Craftsman unit. Works great, can't believe the weight difference from my old 2 ton jack.

I have this one with no complaints. If you watch they sometimes have a package deal with jack stands for the same price.

Yea, I looked them over, I really love the jack personally. I have had it well over 1 year, no problems, lifts everything that I have put it under from my Chevelle to an Expedition and my full size GMC. I do think that it is alittle over rated (2 tons), however, it does everything that I ask, nice tool, worth the money in my book!
