Front Coils Rubbing on 78 Nova

I installed new springs from PST into my son's 1978 Nova. They are the stock springs for a 350 Nova. We removed one coil from the new springsbefore installation. They were replacing the 6 cylinder springs the car came with. I now have both front springs rubbing on the front of the upper spring pocket. I am pretty sure the springs are seated in the upper and lower pockets. I installed them without the engine/trans in the car - compression was a challenge!

Everything is now in the car - and when I went to align I noticed the spring rubbing in the front.

Any ideas how I managed to do this?
