Id appriciate some pics of that car.......a truckarm set up would be cool and would fit the flavour of the car for sure but Im open to other ideas......I know lots of guys around here take their late models to the states and run so the chassis are probably the same.....are those chassis set ups better than a truckarm??......the Howes, Port Citys etc??......Im open......the canvas is blank......even to stock style Hotchkiss set up......ideas anyone??......but keep in mind the body will be channelled......hope this doesnt open up a big can of worms

Check out the newest issue of PHR. In the home town section is that Nasty Dyno West Camaro. It looks killer in the Gulf paint sceme.

      Short track,
If you're looking for a good chassis to base a car off of, I'd think about an ASA chassis from Portcity or Howe. There are a bunch of them already squared up for road courses (because I don't think ASA still exists), three links with QCs and most importantly they have narrower track widths.
Regardless of the details, it's probably way easier to build a chassis from scratch to fit a camaro. Lateral Dynamics 3link, g-modded front end, paint the CID on the hood... you're rocking!

Looks good!.....thanks for the link to the Cup camaro, kewl car......too bad they're on 106 to 110" wheelbase.......wonder if you were to take one of those chassis (or any chassis for that matter) and stretch it 6" would it totally screw it up from a geometry point of view???.......or would it just handle a little slower......hmmmmmmmm

      Wheelbase!

Is determined between the snout and truck arm xmbr!! You can make it what ever you want! Old style 3 link like we used to run in the late 80's or truck arm set that now is the only thing they can run! The 3 link works better in a street car for a number of reasons. Exhaust being #1!!

      Yes!!

I've worked in Cup racing for 19 years! Your idea will work as long as you build a good cage. The frames are flexy flyers with the cage adding rigidity! Even the current cars move around like you wouldn't belive on the shaker rig!

would you reccomend welding the cage directly to the frame or welding it to the body and use solid body mounts??
      the latter sounds pretty hardcore

thanks so much for your insight....I really appriciate it

Update- been making some enquires.......I have found all the local stock car tracks have "classified" sections on their websites with LOTS of parts, motors, trannys, turnkey cars or rollers for sale.......one guy has 5 cars (from various classes) and three of them are for sale "and lots of motors"......another guy is moving up a class, has a Limited Late Model (Camaro front clip car) and Late Model (full tube chassis) for sale and also "an old truck arm car I made into a showcar for malls and the like" has a nine inch, load bolts etc the thing has a motor/tranny actually drives.......price without the prestine body......"I dont know....1200 bucks"
I said I really wanted a quick change......he said....."my buddy has one......we could make a deal and put that in if you want......"

Im going to go check a bunch of this stuff out......there is about seven tracks.....all within about 3 hrs drive from here......this should be fun (and interesting).....I'll snap some pics........doug
