      internally threaded LH/RH adjusting sleeves

i'm looking for hex or round tube that is internally threaded 3/4"-16. One half needs to be RH and one half needs to be LH for adjustment. I need 4" and 6" length. It can be either t6 aluminum or steel. These are for adjustable control arms. Afco has it, but the shortest length is 11". SPC has them for their control arms (i'm building arms that are very similar) but they are unreasonable expensive.

Does anyone know where I can find these? i would fabricate these but a 3/4 LH tap is 35$.

      thanks,
      Jerome

oh i see, i will call coleman and ask if they will make them shorter, or if they have enough thread to be cut down to length.

      T6 IS a heat treatment.
2024, 7075, or 6061 would be the alloy.

My mistake! They are 6061, no heat treatment. I blame the long weekend...

Most 6061 is either T4 or T6, I don't think there is any made with no heat treat but I'm picking nits here, I would like to add that I prefer steel parts for suspension links, especially when threads are involved.
      Good luck with your project.

Well, I was thinking about making some links up out of that stuff from Midwest Control a couple months ago. I called them up to ask their tech guy about the particular alloy and what not, and he stated they were 6061 with no heat treatment whatsoever.

My calculations showed they would have been strong enough for my application despite the lack of HT, but the 6-8 week wait for them to make some didn't work out so well, so I modified stock links..I was concerned about how well the threads would have held up though. I looked into heli-coils but didn't come up with much for left hand threads; but then again I didn't look all that hard either due to the availability issue nixing the project.
