      Door lock question

Is it possible to take the door locks apart (67 Chevelle). So I can paint or powder coat the chrome around where the key goes in?

      Thanks

Yes, but powdercoat and paint will probably chip and flake off, If the center part can stay shiny metal (stainless) the outer ring or bezel or escutcheon or whatever you call it can be coated. Test fit the parts before installation for a good fit and easier install. The locks are held on with a clip. remove the door panel and roll up the window and you will see them. Use a flat tip screw driver to remove clips. Do 1 door at a time if you have never done this before so you have something to go by.

Right I don't want to paint the center just the chrome ring around it. Is it possible to take that ring off (Looks Crimped on) or is it possible to get new ones and then powder coat them and crimp them back on?

Yes but you may have a hard time getting them crimped back on without cracking the finish. I would check with your local locksmith for his opinion to see if he could crimp it back togetherfor you with no damage. Just my .02 on the second opinion.
