      Looks very good.

Wish I had the funds to go the same direction you are with your bird. Down the road after colege perhaps...

For wheels I'll also make mention of the Wheel Vintiques billet Rallye II wheels.

Or with the Ford GT paint scheme you could go with a CCW Classic with the black center. That would look nice as well.

Not quite as far along as I had hoped, but it is good progress and the time delay is not Tony's fault. The sanblaster didn't get the skeleton turned around as quickly as he was supposed to so Tony was only able to get the floor done. Oh well, no big deal, the shell will be totally done by next Sunday!

Thanks John, all welds are mig plug type. You can see the welds in the last pic along the frame rail. They look pretty good to me, but then again, I am not a welder!

      Hi Phil,

Just spent a few hrs going through your web site. Quite impressive! I now understand the $1,000 over budget signature....

I'm right behind you, I have to replace the roof, quarters, tail light panel, and install new DSE tubs. I've been waiting for 2 months for the quarter panels. Now the Holidays are almost here and I won't get the new parts on the car.

I'm sure enjoying looking through your build for the moment knowing what I've got in store for me.

Good luck and keep the posts coming!

      Hi Ron-

What quarters are you looking for (year and model)? The guy rebuilding my shell is a goodmark dealer and has over $30K of panels in stock.

      Few new pics...

Hi Phil Tony's doing a nice job, sounds like a killer project. My Camaro is going to Mikes Custom Cars in S.C. in March for the same make over, so for now I will live my dreams through your build Wayne

Excellent work! Are you going to remove those Global West stickers? Let the car speak for itself.... My 2 cents. LOL The paint shop will have decal remover. Easy as 123....

Phil, it's looking like a car! You must be pumped to say the least, keep up the good work!

I have not had time to call Tony yet, I've been busy trying to finish up my shop. Drywall coming on Mon. so I am close! Then I can tear up my car.

      Hi Phil,

My project is a 67 Camaro. Your guy is on the other side of the States I think the shipping would bite. I need both R&L quarters. I'm told another week or two so lets see. I'm out of town for another week and a half. I gues I can wait.

I just spent the day with Astroracer and now have enough work to keep me busy for a few weeks anyway.

Thanks and I wish I were where you are at now, but am glad I didn't find as many problems when I removed the paint. I knew I had to replace the Roof and possibly the quarters. I could probably live with them, but really don't want the bondo.

      Thanks again,

      Ron

Hey Wayne- Thanks for the compliments. I have been very happy with Tony. I also recently heard about Mike's Customs, but have never spoken with them. Being so close to NH, you may want to give Tony a shout just to see what he can do for you.

Roger - I hear ya about the stickers. Still undecided, but most likely will be removed. I assume that they would look pretty beat-up after some mileage anyway.

Hi Brian - Any pics of your car? What size garage you building?

Ron - I think Tony charges a flat $99 shipping on all Goodmark orders under 150 lbs. If you get in a jamb in a few weeks, he may be a good back-up plan 4 you.

I think I have decided on the Platinum with Silver stripes (like the Ford GT) for paint. It will have the Trans Am stripe lay out.

I should get the shell back on Sunday, then it goes to the bodyshop for seam sealer, primer, and paint. I am only having the underside, firewall, and jambs done in final paint 4 now. The body will stay in primer during the rest of my build. I have 2 children that like to "help" in the garage and I would be nervous about the paint.

My subframe is gloss black and I was considering having the shop paint the body color (platinum) on the underside as well (I have decided on a 1-color engine bay: firewall, inner fenders, and rad supprt all in silver). Besides showing the dirt, any other downsides to doing the bottom of the car in the body color? Would it look like crap?

Wow Phil, that is some major overhauling you're doing. I applaud you. Most people would not go to that extent. Hell, Boyd Coddington's people would have sent that car to the crusher. Money well spent, you've saved another of these precious classics. Keep up the amazing work.

      Hey Wayne-
Yeah, I am just a bit anxious. After all, this started waaay back in July when the car went to the body shop, sat there untouched for 3 months until I started getting the daily bad news on all the covered-up rot. That's when I found Tony for the shell rebuild.

The body shop picks it up from Tony on Saturday, then they take it and seam seal, prime and paint the underside, interior, firewall, and jambs. The exterior of the car will stay in primer until I finish the assembly. So I hope to have it back from the body shop by Christmas. We'll see. I hate dealing with body shops.

Wow! Lookin good! I wish I had that ability, to rebuild a car like that. Most people would just crush it but I like the challenge! (Sick huh?)

Anyway, I vote for the GT colors. I too think that would look killer with the TA stripes.
