      "Obsidian" Mustang

      Here ya go.
This Mustang was not done by the Ring Brothers. I went to their site and they don't show any info on it. After more searching I found it here:

http://www.ponysite.de/news.htm and searching the company names listed there, I found the builder here: http://www.autoworksracing.com/proje...ng_67_supe.htm

The second rendering and finished product looks alot better than the original rendering. The cowl is over the top but like the first site said you can "Obsidianize" your very own any way you want.

What you just said is exactly why I don't get companies doing that. They may have had some really nice stuff. You paid no attention to it because of the bimbo.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy looking at a lovely young woman as much as the next guy. But there are times when a vacuous vamp just gets in the way.

Looky here http://www.shedracing.net/sema2006/sema0083.html if yer gonna go the bimbo route, at least have them decently clothed rather than looking like hookers. Of course, being that they are from Barret Jackson their price (and probably other stuff too) is most likely absurdly inflated.

***I agree, especially whenever there are high quality or special cars around. Of course this does not apply to women that actually attend shows for the sake of the cars, or to hang out with their partners, or have cars at the shows...

Wow, I thought I was the only one to think such things. I recently picked up a copy of 5.0 Mustang, and they had two of the trashiest girls on their "last page." I actually tore the page out and threw it away! I don't mind good lookin' women in a magazine, I haven't joined the Amish yet, but do they have to look like they'll "love me a long time" for $25! Besides, I have to admit that I think a good lookin' woman, dressed with a bit more material covering their, erm, nether regions, to be more attractive. I don't know, maybe it leaves more to the imagination?

How exactly would you have liked to have seen those girls dressed? They were covered, nice figures and nothing exposed! Dude, this is America, if you don't like girls and cars, what are you doing in the sport? Sure, there where girls there dressed like I would not want my wife dressed, but most were decent. You dis the whole show over a couple pictures?
I am having a tough time figuring out exactly what you do like lately, no bling, no expensive cars, no nice interiors, no girls. Post some pictures of your car.

Anyway, thanks for the link, great set of mostly race car pictures!

Wow I didn't expect that from you Bill. From others, maybe, but not you.

[COLOR=black]I made mention of the fact that I didn't understand why some SEMA vendors felt the need to have booth girls that are dressed like hookers. I pointed out the Barret Jackson girls as an example of the fact that one potentially COULD have girls in the booth and have them look nice w/o being trashy. Did you miss that? The entire subject was purely a point for philosophical discussion on branding and image which was apparently lost. At least two people above seem to agree.

I like your car and I have said so on numerous occasions.
I loved the ring brothers last car (with exception given to the airbag susp.) and have said so on numerous occasions.
I like SW's car. All pretty “blingy” if memory serves.

....and with the "nice interior" thing you are making mention of a post I made on another site. You are correct, I do not like the interior on the ring bros. latest car. Here's why"
      · The rad-hazard symbols are cheesy
      · The dash material is too reflective for actual use
      · The bezel around the shifter looks like a leftover from G-Force and matches nothing else on the car
      · The gauge panel looks like it was removed from some silly toyota design center concept car
But that is simply my opinion and it stinks just like anyone elses.
I also said that I felt the craftsmanship on the car was spectacular and voiced an appreciation for the skill of the people that built it. But that got lost in the flurry of fellatio.

As for my car? Cute little stab. Again, I didn’t expect that from you. If you must know it is currently on jack stands stripped to the shell. How is that germane to the conversation?

I don't like brussels sprouts and I don't need to be a farmer to have that opinion do I?

I don't like the Beatles (I prefer Elvis) but I don't need to play guitar or have a gold record to have that opinion do I?

I don’t currently own a $90k car. Does that preclude me from having an opinion on them? Seriously?

But you know what Bill, I do not need to defend my likes/dislikes to you or anyone else. It's my opinion, and I am as entitled to it as you are to yours.
Since when is there a list of prerequisites for having opinions?
What exactly is that based on?
I’d like to see the list of qualifications, seriously.

I spent about an hour talking with Mike Ring about the mustang. Honestly, the first trip I made by the car, on Tuesday, I had a take it or leave it opinion about it. Maybe the same impression you and others got from just looking at the pictures. But to talk with the builder and get some insight of were they got their inspiration and how they made everything fit was just amazing. The intake cover with the ducts (and airboxes you can not even see) was just one of the small things that while the pictures do not show, just took so many hours to pull off. All the inserts in the hood and on the quarters are one off Billet (not polished bling, but one piece nevertheless) pieces. The reactor emblems everyone is so down on are very small, very suttle pieces, on the brake pedel, and wheel centers. just a nice touch not hidious standout pieces like the pictures might seem. The dash is similar to the air box as I remember. It follows the same theme anyway. The roll bars, while useless in an accident, are reminecent (sp?) of the early shelby bars.
This car reminds me alot of the Cuda last year. So many hidden things that you absolutely do not see them all in one sitting. There were things about the Cuda I did not like last year, but it is streaching the boundarys like Alan did on it that make the hobby grow every year. You better believe that all the builders were paying attention last year and it shows in the fresh cars this year. The same builders were all over this car this year. Every time I went over there, someone that is a who's who in the business was all over it.If they built just what you liked, or just what I liked, we would never have these new ideas for future projects. I will never be able to afford an Alan Johnson hot rod, nor probably a Ring Brothers car, but I did take away things about both I will use on the next project (when I can afford it).
On the interior comment, again, I was talking about your comment about the look. We all post on several boards, so if it was not here, sorry. The look was very nice and functionable. The seats were custom made to fit, yet give support when the car is put thru its paces. They were going for a stock look, yet function incorporated.
I just don't see how they could have done it better?
The girl comment I made is this. Sure, there were girls there that needed more clothes, but I guess at my age (48) I seem to overlook them. Several booths had well dressed, classy females pimping their wares. Either way the arguement can be made that they are unneeded but surely not unwanted.
True, surely you know I am not mainstream in my thinking about what is cool and what isn't. One of the coolest cars there to me was the W2W Nova sleeper, discussed at length here in another thread. There is absolutely no bling there, yet probably got as much attention as anything else in the parking lot. Reread my post, I was asking what your taste was, not slamming you over if you car was finished or not. I have a car that was at SEMA LAST year that is in the shop yet again trying to finish it, so no problem there.

SW's car is in no way blingy, just nice wheels and some chrome under the hood is all the bling I can think of. Look for that car on the track very soon, getting the crap beat out of it.

BTW, I am a Southern Rock guy, but don't mind "She loves me,yeah, yeah" or "Suspicious Minds". Most of the members here have no idea what I just said.lol
Craig Jackson has enough money to have super models at the show, yet he choose T-tops and jeans. Not alot of skin showing, yet very easy on the eyes, even for an old fart like me. Most of the people buying cars at his auction can afford their own poster girls anyway. They were not centerstage in his booth just nice eyecandy.

My last post was this, you don't have to like everything or everyone, but don't bash people's taste just cause it does not match yours. You can dissagree without being disagreeable. You are much more educated and certainly more eloquent with words than I, yet your posts sometimes read like hate mail.
I think I fit in pretty good around here and I don't even own a camaro, lol. I have never let that be a factor in either loving the site or on the other hand, influencing my taste.
Outside the box is great, just understand outside the box doesn't require hostility!

Guys, SEMA was TAME THIS YEAR compared to last year concerning all the hooker's, I mean product spokeswomen, who were pimping products at vendor's booths. There was also a distinct LACK of Tuner cars this year in my opinion. No live "Tuner Transformation" event in the front parking lot with towers and dancing hookers as there was last year (2005). SEMA caught a lot of Sheet over this type of action last year and the event was not repeated! Musclecars were by far the favorite cars for display along witht the usual other car markets that are represented at SEMA.

The vendor's who believe that stipper's, sorry product spokeswoman, need to be from the silicon valley tends to depend on who is the vendors major sales market. Tuner and Rapper market wheel manufactures have trashy strippers. Giovanni, HRE and other high end wheels manufactures have very well dressed high end strippers if any at all. Tuner engine and high performance manufactures have trashy strippers. Muscle car parts manufacture have well dressed/high end strippers if they have any at all. Most do not have any!

If you wonder where/why the trashy model/stripper spokeswoman have invaded the hobby, go to any NOPI or DUB sponsored event. There not called "Slammin and Jammin" events for nothing! Most of the cars at NOPI/DUB events for display with lots of video screens will be playing PORN! This IS the car culture of the 18-30 year old tuner/rapper market. Why would you expect anything else at a vendors booth that caters to that market?

SEMA was very different this year. Their effort to keep out the public worked well in my opinion as there was a LOT LESS of the public there just to walk the show. This was certainly reflected by a distinct lack of the trashy Tuner crowd in attendance at the event. The quality of the cars was also down. There was just 4 SUPERB CARS at the show in my opinion. Bob's Cuda, the Ring Brothers Mustang (by far the best "new" car), Troy's 65 Impala and a dynamite 59 Green Chevy Convertible. This is not to take anything away from the other exhibitors however these 4 cars were light years ahead of the others. I personally thought the workmanship displayed on all the cars as a whole was down from 2005. There were also a LOT MORE unfinished cars displayed this year in vendor booths. There were also a lot of repeat display cars and old magazine cars. Old as in we have seen these cars WAY TO MANY TIMES!!!!

The Lateral G party was very nice! Thanks to the Lateral G folks and Steve Sandlin for their hospitality. I was proud and pleased to make a generous donation to the charity for children they support.

The Pro-Touring dinner was again a hit. The kitty litter was to die for!!!! Thanks Larry for your continued efforts to promote our part of the car hobby. Pro-Touring Cars represented BY FAR the greatest increase of any type of car build at this show. PT is not a fad as some have suggested. If you want a fad, look to Pro-Street. Maybe 1 or 2 cars total at the whole event! And yes, that includes the new body Sox & Martin Challenger shown in the Mopar booth with its Pro-Street look and 15 inch wheels. It was rough and poorly done!

All in all a great time! This is a must attend event for all car guys. So go start your own car business and attend next year!!!!!

Having never been to SEMA before, I'd have to say there werent that many models/strippers/spokeswomen there. Not from what I saw anyway.

when speaking about superb cars dont forget about the morrison Corvette, mike. the Troy built land speed cuda was nice, as was a bitchen red 62 impala wagon.

      Tony,

The cars you mention were very nice. Bobby Alloway's Mustang was also nice. From a design, craftsmanship and paint/presentation aspect, I just thought the 4 cars I mentioned were above the rest of the crowd! To each his own.

I personally would not want to own Troy's 65 Impala or the 59 Chevy convertible as they are defintely NOT my cup of tea but I did think these cars were a cut above everything else presented at the show. EVERYWHERE you looked on these 4 cars, there was something unique. Either in design, craftsmanship or condition. After multiple trips to look at these cars, I would always find something new, neat and fantastic on these cars. To me, this is what distiguishes these 4 cars.

All in all, there was something for everyone!
      Mike
