      Torque arm for 68 camaro.

I'm gonna try and use the same packaging as the 4th gen camaro's. The lower control arms will be a little longer. About 24". Taking into account the 4th gen is on a 7" smaller wheel base and stock mounting point for the TA is on the tailshaft of the trans. Aftermarket kits use a remote mounted TA that is shorter to increase the amount of anti-squat. I believe they are somewhere in the neighborhood of 45". I am either going to buy a shorter one for a 4th gen specific car or build my own. I believe this shorter TA will give the 68 enough anti-squat for sufficient traction as well as keep the suspension from binding through the turns. I've done lots of reading through the other posts and searched it but haven't found the info that I have really needed. Maybe this new post will give some new thought to the old idea. Feel free to bash away.

What are you asking exactly. I believe ronracer has a T/A set up on his first gen. You may want to do some searching on his car. I know there is a pic or two around here.

I was originally looking at doing the 4th gen T/A set-up, but found that the tunnel would have needed to be highly modified to allow for clearance. Currie Ent. set-up my 9" for this. I was kinda bummed I didn't use it. Griggs Racing has a proven T/A that I used from my Mustang day's. I think I'm the first one to use all there rear-end stuff in a 1st gen Camaro. (More Mods of course)

As for performance...we'll I haven't got it out to Willow Springs yet, but it will be going up against a Porsche GT3 when it does. I drove this car. This will be interesting. I will do my best.

On the street skid pad (Ok..going around an on ramp to the freeway) The same on ramp he got to 60mph and I was doing 54mph as he was sitting beside me. He told me he did 60 that after I went through it.. Ok, It's on now!....I will finish dialing in my front suspension and try this again..61 it is!! My set up is very street mild (-1/2 Deg camber, +2 deg caster) also I've got 4 year old knot-hard Michelin PS rubber vs. his brand new Michelin PS2's. No advantage their....

ron, Do you have any clearance issues with that TA. it looks to be really low. Did you mount the control arms in the spring perches? What do you think of a custom braket with a adjustable mount to factor in more or less anti-squat. what angle are your lower control arms at ride height?

No issues with the low T/A. Or at least in Calif. You may mave an issue if you have 2" manhole covers sticking up out of the ground. I will hit my side exhaust on speed bumps before anything else.

Yes, I did use the spring perches. They work very well. I used a set of Griggs lower control arm mounts and welded to the perches. They have 2 different sets of holes to adjust lower control arm angle. I made the lower conrol arms myself with left and right hand rod ends so length adjustments can be done without removing.
