      http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=260040673189

      Hmmm... now what?

I guess PHR keeps preaching about building alternative muscle cars.. now it's time to walk the walk..

      Anyone in Portland transport cars??

So, what should we do? 390 engine, TKO-600 trans, Curie nine-inch rear?

Black steelies with better binders? thoughts?

I can't believe it only fetched $8100. Great car for the money...doesn't look like you guys will need to do any body work or paint to it. Just swap out the wheels and dump the rest of the money into the drivetrain and suspension.

Cool. I'm glad it's not a Mustang or Camaro. It'll be nice to see something different for a change.

and the name has been chosen..

      Project FastLane

About the only think I don't love is the white vinyl top..hmmm

Paint and body is death on a magazine project car since it has to come out of your pocket and is not recouped eventually.

That's one fine looking piece of machinery. I love the car, excellent choice. I say stab in a Ford Racing 392ci/430hp GT-40 crate engine and TKO-600.

Given the weight I think I need some cubic inches.. a 393 sounds nice.

I wonder what would fit in the engine bay? Not up on this year Torino/Fairlane

      TKO-600

      Possibilities

Hey how about one of those 451 cube FE Rousch crate motors like Foose dad put in the 56 pick up for chip.
Whip up a fake Q-jet throttle body add on a FI setup and a Cobra-Jet Tag for it, maybe a repop Cobra-jet shaker hood scoop.
give it a set of Nascar oval outlet pipes in front of the rear tires, and hows about a push button 4L80E with Indy car style shifter buttons on the steerring wheel. wow now that would be sweet. make people wonder just hwere the shifter is too.
Just an idea ,,,hmmm I wonder if,,,,,. OK I gave my self another idea for dare to be different, again.
      Nice buy.
      I love Fords too.

427 Stroker with EFI, a Vortech and an intercooler, One of Fords electronic overdrive automatics with a Bowler QuickShifter button control so you can keep the column shifter, 9" with a 3:91 gear, big Wilwoods all around, Basset or Aero NASCAR type wheels. Cerullo buckets done in the same blue color that already there with Crow harnesses. Lose the white top...maybe two tone the car with black or a dark color on top. Or just match the blue and do a flat black "phantom OEM" stripe.
Let me do an AirBar and shockwave air suspension on it.
Or just sell it to me and I'll build it.

I was thinking of stripping the vinly top and painting the top either blue or white. I would leave the top trim on the car so it doesn't need to be blended to the existing blue paint. I don't think that bit of trim would look bad. hmmm

Paint the roof white and keep the vinyl trim. It was used a fair bit on Novas in the late '60s and early'70s. Doesn't look half bad and you don't have the usual concerns that you have with vinyl tops.
For the engine, howsabout an after market Windsor block stroked to 428 and use a pair of Edelbrock's Cleveland heads on it. The car has a fair bit of heft to it, so TKO or T56 for a tranny. Might be a good idea to lay a little extra lovin' on it too.

      It's only 15 hours.. hmmm

Going to Orbits to check airfair..

i say either turbo or supercharge the 302 with a F.A.S.T. set up. a little forced induction would rock. It would also get some advertisement on some parts.
