      Everyones favorite sleeper!!!!

I know we pay more attention to some of the "nicer looking" cars but what is everyones favorite sleeper? I would have to say that the W2W Nova & Delta Ts' 4 door Malibu are my favorites. Old or new, what are they?

75-81 Nova - same chassis as the 70-81 Camaro so all the Camaro stuff fits.

W2W Nova . If I had something like that when I was a kid I probably wouldn't be here now. At the very least I'd still be in jail. .

Dad's friend got a 67 SS396 Chevelle 375HP in early 68, had it 1 week and he got T boned buy a old lady, long story short they stole the car from the INS company, and in 71/72 put the motor in a 53/54 Chevy P/U rusty, fenders falling off POS, I remember riding in it, loud, noisey scared the crap out of me I was 5 or 6, I remember him racing a Falcon or Farlane, and side stepping the clutch around 6500 man it felt like we were taking off, there are noumerous stories of them beating up on fast cars up north, and I think the truck is still around today,

To me a real sleeper can pop the hood and trunk and still fool people.

So I'll say the cars that run 10's and 11's in F.A.S.T. on stock bias ply tires, all stock looking, everywhere.

W2W Nova...You wouldn't even want to bother enough to pop the hood. Meaneys Vette is still a Vette.

      Nick Scavo's 65 Impala, circa 1998...

It had all it's stock trim, plain black paint, flat hood, bench seat, column shifter, and 10.5-inch wide tires. Nice rumble- looked like a 12-second fullsize car, maybe 11s.

      Ran 8.74 at will.

It got more mods soon afterwards, but in its 'best' guise, it was among the best sleepers ever.

CAR CRAFt (Octobe 06) had a nasty similar Biscayne with his old Motor. Except for teh slight cowl hood, that baby is a sleeper. I think it said 10.20's.

Oh but Charlie, how many Vette's of that year actually have enough balls to get out in front of itself! Comparativly (sp?) speaking! Yeah, you expect a vette to run 14's and that is about it for the most part. Around here, even that Nova should run mid to low 11's. But maybe that is what I would expect since I like drag racing and a little street action here and there.

My personal favorite is my 95, because I get to enjoy it. I took two neighbors out last week and one said " its just another Camaro". I took them through some back road turns, under complete control, when the guy in the back yells we just went through that corner at 100 mph, I looked down to see the speedo passing 110. Yes I was surprised at our speed, then the other one says " holy sh_t this thing is a sleeper".

I once saw an AMC Hornet that had 340 in it that looked like your everyday POS but was rather fast and the Matadors were also on the sleeper side and could fit just about any combo you want in one. Any AMC is a sleeper to almost anyone.

Used to be a guy who ported heads at a speed shop that a 65 Impala POS that ran 12,s and beat the crap out of a lot of cars that were faster because he had no traction problems and would walk away off the line and no lookin back.

Had a good friend that had one of those Omni GLH's back in the 80's that was a big surprise to a lot of people but it never intimidated my Camaro that was only $3,600 total worth all all the parts.

I have to say the W2W Nova really does decieve more than almost any other car I have ever seen in many years.

I also once ran into a 69 Ford station wagon one night on my 650 midnight special Yamaha motorcycle and thought I was going to dust him of when he reved the engine by me at 30mph, He proceeded to stay next to me and play until we reached about 90mph and then you could tell he put it to the floor and left me behind. It had a 429 in it but you could never tell. So station wagons are probably the best sleepers ever since you can put down the back seat and sleep in them comfortably.LOL

"Sleeper" implies that it runs better, faster, etc. than it looks!
