Anyone have one car, but would rather build another?

Who else out there is working on a pro-touring project, but would rather be building a different car instead? I'm sure many of us have quite a few badass projects in our heads, but might be building them out of order.

Right now, I'm gathering parts and such for my hugger orange '69 SS convertible. It will be a nice cruiser with its LS7 427 under the hood.

But, I think I'd rather be building a more wicked 1st gen Firebird instead. I'm thinking charcoal metallic or black, with mini-tubs and a 4-link, and a 88mm single turbo 400 ci LSX. I'd like this one to have a 10-pt cage and run high 8s in the 1/4, but still be able to jump in it and go on Power Tour.

in other words, convertibles kinda suck if you want big power and a rigid chassis. I don't like rollcages in classic convertibles, and this one is too nice to hack up like that.

I've got my mid year Corvette which I love. I've done a lot of upgrades to it but a '64 GTO is and always has been sizzling hot in the back of my mind.

I more or less just tripped into owning my 69 RS back when I was in the military at 29 Palms some 22 years ago. Since it was totaled, I felt obligated to rebuild it.....then the PT thing came around.

I'm doing the whole PT build-up right now but my whole life, I've only dreamt about 2 cars.
1. 1970 Challenger (HT or conv)
2. a cruiser musclecar convertible

I can't afford any other toy cars more than that!

No...I want to be building the car I'm working on now...I just want other stuff too. Oh, wait...I allready have all my future projects stacked up in the garage too. Believe me, its not as good as you think it is to have multiple "projects". I find myself buying parts for one of the future projects just 'cause its a good deal. Then I have to make room to store it, and then dont have money to spend on the current project

. I am such a retard sometimes. But I'm happy...most of the time 'cause I dont know any better.

I'd like to do a LS1/turbo swap in the Nova, but I also have a BBC block laying around and a nice set of blower pistons and a good set of alumn heads, so I need a blower/turbo cam, a single plane intake and a carb from CSU plus the blower which a friend has, be a fun street car maybe a mid 10sec ride, just thinking.............

I'm very happy with the project I am currently not building but should be if I only had a job. My biggest problem is that I am constantly building other cars in my head. Some examples are:

- What if Oldsmobile was given the F-body platform in '88 to make up for the loss of the G-body? I've even sketched this one!

- Chevy Monza/Olds Starfire. Trick suspension and an LSx w/6speed. A wrap around rear wing and some ground effects and you have a cool sports car.

- '78-'80 Olds Cutlass. Mold in the bumpers, nice suspension, LSx w/6-speed. Great driver.

- Drop an LSx w/6speed into my current '97 Bonneville. Ok, so I'd have to convert it to RWD, but it would really surprise a few BMWs, eh?

- Put a supercharged V-6 from my Bonneville and drop it into my wifes Miata.

- '80s G-body. Whack the front frame off and install a front frame from a GMC Typhoon. AWD, Turbocharged, I like it!

- Early '50s Ford ('53-'54) sedan with an AWD chassis under it.

- What if Lincoln made a fox-body? Lots of leather, nice looking wheels, independent rear suspension, supercharged 302, 6-speed, power everything. Add a few Lincoln looking body parts (grill from a Lincoln LS or Mark Viii) and call it a Lincoln LSX to go with the LSC they made then.

- '61-'63 Olds Cutlass. LSx, 6-speed, add some aftermarket suspension. Build it on a sedan and it should kick some butt!

I wish I could do the artwork like others on this board can because i think a few of these would look cool. In my head I know exactly what they would look like, I'm just not talented enough to be able to get them on paper. For example, I knew all along what the 442 would look like with the bumpers flushed like I did, and what the rear spoiler would look like. It just took a while to convince myself to go for it because I wasn't sure that the vision in my head would really match up to reality.

Anyway, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

I like my 67 and I am really itching to get it done b/c I would love to build a Jeep one day and there is a 57 bel-air that I pass every sunday coming back from church that I would love to build one day as a cruiser.

I want a '30-'31 Model A Ford Rat Rod so bad that I can't stand it. Just something to tool around in with either a flathead or early hemi. An old Caddy motor wouldn't be bad either. I also want another '86-'87 Monte Carlo SS set up for Open Road events like Silver State and such. I had one a while ago and let my wife's kid brother buy it from me and then he totaled it.

And BTW rollbars can look really good if done right.

I wouldn't mind attenpting a 78 Malibu Convertible SS. LSX w/ 6spd, suspension from SC&C, frame notch w/ mini tub and all the other comforts of a modern vehicle in an old school shell. That and a 96 Impala SS convertible.

No, but I've got a whole bunch I'd like to build in addition:
67 Chevelle SS (I once let one of these get away)
70 Mustang Sportsroof
Brand spankin' new Mustang GT
31 Model A Coupe, with suspension properly sorted so it works right.
70 Dodge Challenger (who doesn't want one?)
Some sort of 60's/early 70's boatmobile, with enough power, brakes, and suspension to run with a modern sports/luxury car.

I'm quite happy with my First gen bird project.

I am however already looking towards a new project after I finish this one up. I'd really like to do a late 60's Lincoln Continental...it's the suicide doors that have me.

Low, black, and a stout 5.4 modular...it woudl be a nice cruiser.
