Last time I was at school for my dealership the instructor was talking about this car. It is supposed to be a stripped down vette that is quite a bit lighter than the standard z06 now. Output of the engine and performance of the car is to be more for racing than street driving. The car is bad in every way. If you haven't driven a new z06 go out and try one and see how you like that, it is basically a coffen on wheels with no traction in 1-3 even with traction control turned on. I am the vette guy at my dealership and it is a sweet ride... and I can only imagine this one.

For the price, the Vette is the best bang for the buck in the performance market. Even as far as exotics go. Awesome to hear they might step it up even more.

I wonder what type of blower they're going to use. I know Magnachargers are really popular for Corvettes but I believe they used a Whipple manufactured blower for the Cobalt SS, didn't they?
It'd be neat to see a centrifugal blower on a production car...but not likely. :(

the oem's always use eaton based ones, which the magnacharger is based off of.

It's going to be a bad ass car for sure (if it actually makes it to production). Though Corvette SS is the wrong name for this car, in my opinion (there's never been a corvette SS, no reason for one now). Call it the Sting Ray, ZR1(2), Z07, Mako Shark, L88, something but Corvette SS. Other than that, build it, GM!

Can't agree more with Ralph. Corvette SS is completely wrong for a name. Yes they had a prototype way back when that was called the SS. It's just not a good sound. Besides how can you make an SS model out of an already badass car. I think it needs to be a ZL1 personally.

Z07 is a handling package from the 90s. Too new to bring back.

ZR2 would be ok but has no heritage like ZL1. Starting something new and different isn't a bad idea though.

L88 was just an engine not a model.

I can't think of any other classic models that were famous and would fit the bill.

Given the hood and the in-manifold intercooler then it's likely an Eaton.

GM, Ford, Jaguar, Mercedes, etc... all use the Eaton supercharger. There's got to be a reason why.

Sounds like the powerplant that was in the lightly veiled "Blue Devil".

Eaton blower. Probably the MP122 sized casing. With a cam swap, it should put down 600 rwhp if they do go with the 6.2L engine. My 6.0L Corvette puts down 550 rwhp at only 5psi boost, with the smaller cased MP112 eaton (Magnacharger).

I just hope they beef up the rearend and drivetrain to handle the added power. Stock C6 rearends are weak.

Well since you can't use the Z0 tag you can go back to the GrandSport era...GS6 has a nicer sound to it...wait that sounds too Buick-ish.

It might be a possibility. As I recall in a recent article, the cover story was about a questionairre on how to option the new Camaro. In that, there was an option for a supercharged 6.2L. Is it a coincidence?
