Stipped lug - Need guidance

This is not on my Turbo Regal, but my Nissan Maxima. It has aftermarket rims on it, with an "allen bolt" type lug nut. I was having a Firestone dealer put tires on it and they ended up stripping out one of the lug nuts. Basically told me sorry, see if you can get it off. First, I'm a bit pi$$ed at the garage, but second, does anyone (snap on, MATCO, craftsman) make an allen bolt extractor. I'm not in the business of stripping bolts/nuts, so I am not really familiar with this. Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I do not even want to drive the car for fear of a flat tire, and not being able to change it.

The best I can think of is hammer an oversized allen in there and try to twist it out slow like with a ratchet.

And take all the others off as well rotate the tire so that when you let it down it will unscreww the remaining lug, as you loosen it with the prev mentioned oversized allen.

you may need a metric or standard allen, Whatever fits tight.

2. you will need a VERY sharp QUALITY chisle with the same tactic.

3. Pound a 12 point QUALITY socket over it and use an air gun.

4. Snapon Matco or Mac tools sells tools to remove wheel locks when customers loose the keys, I personally have had just as good of success with the sockett method

agree with above...but tighten all the other lugs to take pressure off of the stripped nut. I hate them allen ones.

Sears/Craftsman has a stripped bolt/nut socket with sharp canted edges. Even though it the head is round on the allen they might make one big enough that you can pound it over it. The sharp edges really get a good bite.

I did this with a stripped torque converter bolt and it worked really well. The large size might be the only hitch. I think I got the set of 5 for $20. Good luck, SS.

but FFS it would cost you 80 bucks to get it done.

you can Acomplish the same exact thing with a 12 point socket and a large hammer

Ive done this a few times for customers over my 20+ year carreer as a wernch twister =)

Thanks everyone for replying. I was not very clear in my description. My lug nuts are called "tuner" lugs and are surrounded by the wheel itself, so there was no chance to put anything around the outside of lug nut to grip it. Towards the center of the wheel, a small bit of the nut was sticking out past the wheel. I ended up sticking an air chisel on the small portion of the nut that was sticking out, and drove it towards the left (lefty loosey). It was a slow process, but it loosened it up. The air chisel even had a hard time turning the lug, so the last shop that put tires on my car must have seriously over torqued the nuts.

Do you have the crap tool for the tuner lug nuts if so hit up local snap on ,mac or matco dealer and get a good allen socket and buy a spare insert for it.
Also a Wrench twister and I work for Bridgestone/Firestone and from a person who works for them I am sorry that you got hooked up with a lame manager. BUT if you look on the back of your reciept it should have a lot of writing and on there is a 1800 number to bitch about the crappy service. We call it a the 1800 it be free number. BFRS has most shops MAP certifiedand if you dont atleast get some satisfaction from the hot line maybe it will hit them on MAP.
I have personally had to redo AC conversions from a shop over in Ohio and those idiots didnt even replace orrifice tubes in a system that had a compressor fragout.
If you want the number let me know and Ill get it for you,Please dont let them get away with messing things up. The Expert tire in same town I work in finally got a neew manager , our old Manager of Tire Sales.
Good luck oh and if I remember those lugs take a 12 mm allen.
