      Ballooning converter??

I had to replace an otherwise sound crank in my chevy 350 because I had .026 in end play. The thrust flange was badly worn from the crank being loaded forward. I have seen this on manual transmission applications but I'm running a non-lockup 700R4. Will a ballooning converter's external horizontal dimension grow and cause this? Need to know if I need to invest in anti-ballooning plates or to look elsewhere for cause.

Thrust wear from autos is alos a problem. Pumps can push the convertor forward and wear the thrust. You can do some mods to the thrust to be sure it gets oil. A friend's race car with a Glide pushed it forward so much wear the motor overheated the crank needing work.
