PT Camaro Update

The car has come a long way in 6 months. I finally finished the paint (single stage PPG). I blacked out everything and removed all trim/filled holes. I also filled the firewall. I am still finalizing the interior and the motor just arrived (M&R Engines 465hp 383) plus 125 hp shot. I had the 8.5 rear rebuilt with an eaton unit and the M20 was converted to a M22. The wheels are Coys gray center with Nitto Extremes. Front brakes are C5 with brackets from Kore 3 and the rears are from Touring Classics. The syspension kit is Hotchkis TVS.

I just need a few days to get the motor in, connect exhaust, install gauges (Corvins), and assemble the front end. Then the DSE cage and rear interior will come later.

I could not have completed this project with out the help of Protouring.com web-site and it's members. Thank you for your help with this project.

The seats are just the Jegs simulated leather. They are very nice for the money. I was very pleased with them.

They are very comfy for the money and the material is nice as well. They do sit high so you have to mount them with the tracks that come with them.

Yes I painted it in my garage.

All I did was put plastic down on the floor (my floor is epoxy coated) and then I would lower the garage half way (to keep nosey neighbors from calling the police) and I had two of those cheap box fans (one in front on low and one by the garage door on high).

The key is to not paint it all at once. I painted the doors one day, then the hood and decklid, then the shell. That way you do not get to far ahead of yourself and also it will create less overspreay.

I used PPG single stage blck. It you **** up all you have to do is wait 30 minutes, send out the drip/dust/bug and recoat. I used 7 coats and wetsanded/buffed it flat.

The KEY is prep work. LOTS of sanding after primer and after sealer as well. The more time spent on the prep=less headaches during paint.

I spent $1200 on supplies and used a cheap devilbis gun and a cheap craftsman compressor. It can be done with some patience and a understanding wife.
