Hey all, I just discovered this site and am stoked that it exists. I picked up my '69 GTO ragtop a year and a half ago and have been in the process of making it more fun to drive. I have been rather torn in my decisions to add aftermarket components and alter the car since it was almost totally stock when I bought it however the fun factor just wasn't there for me so she's becoming a "pro-touring machine".

This is what she's got to date:
Hotchkiss front and rear sway bars
Upper and lower trailing arms and front springs

The engine is at the speed shop now and the 400 has become a 455 with all the goodies including a roller cam and custom dished pistons.

We swapped out the TH400 for a built 7004R and have a 3:42 posi rear.

The pictures don't show it bit I visted Boyd Coddington's shop and had them make me a set of Junkyard Dawgs. 17" x 10" for the back and 17" x 8's for the front. 285/40s in back and probably 255/45s in the front.

After the motor is in I'll be making decisons on brakes and will probably look to the group for some advise. I'm interested in the Baer 13" setup right now.....

Oh yeah, the exhaust is all new with Ram Air Restoration's 2-1/2" exhaust manifolds, down pipes, x-pipe and Dynomax mufflers.

      It's coming along.......

Thanks, nice looking stable of vehicles you have there. What color is that Camaro? After I'm done with the mechanicals on mine she is getting color. The white just looks too plain and I leaning towards a burgandy of Brandywine color.

A pro touring Goat is about the coolest thing I can think of!
The Boyd JYD's are going to look bitchin' on there--I love mine.
You should do what you want to the car, especially since you are never selling it (right?), but even if you ever did have to sell it, just keep the original parts.

I love those GTOs. That enduro nose was the inspiration behind my 442's modified body colored bumpers. Sounds like a nice list of mods there, I say go for it!

The painted bumper looks good. How about some more pics of the car.

My car actually has an Olds Type "O" rearend. It looks like new however I'm going to put it up for sale in the near future if anyone is interested.

Very nice car... Love the old GTOs.

Question for you - I noticed your currently running the Rally II's on your GTO right now - looks like 15x7s up front and 15x8s or 10s out back no? If your interested in selling the rims and tires and let me know, I have a 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix and have been looking for a nice set of Rally's for it. Also, I have the 13" BAER set up on my 68' Charger so let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers and keep up the good work with the Goat!

Thanks and yes I may want to sell the Rally IIs in the near future. I have to get the motor back in the car and mount those Boyds to be sure I really like them. Then if I use the 13" rotors I guess there is no going back to 15" wheels. How do you like the 13" BAERs? Do you know if the 12" BAER brakes will work with 15" Rally IIs????

The Rally IIs are actually all 15" x 8" x 4.5". 295/50s on the back and 235/60 on the front.

      Thanks Frank,
You know we might be of the same mind set in that you have a '70 Poncho and me with a '69 and then you have yourself a '94 stepside Silverado and I have a '96 stepside Silverado.

I also now have 285/40x17s for the rear but haven't mounted the front tires yet but will prob end up with 255/45x17s. I'd like to see some pics of yours LeMans wearing the new tires and rubber.

Don't want to steal your thread, but here are a couple more pics. The shots are old though, it's further along than this. Anyway, here goes.
