Anyone seen a Pro-touring Grand National?

I've been thinking about ditching my GMC truck and finding a grand national or T-type to use as a daily driver. So when I started looking for info on the web I couldn't find anyone who has done the PT treatment on a GN. Everyone I've seen is either stock or heavily modded for drag racing. I've seen some really well done Monte SS's but no Grand nationals. Seems like a natural thing to do, since all the G-body upgrades would work. Or am I just missing something?

One of the trickest cars I've seen was a GN in black/silver. Lowered, lots of suspension mods, big brakes/tires. Just a really trick car.

That car was built by Heath Elmer, and had I sold my Turbo Trans Am in time it would have been mine (it was on ebay a couple years back just a couple weeks prior to my TTA selling... drat!)

I think there is a small story about one in the back of "How to build GM Pro Touring cars".

      Louisville, Ky.

As a matter of fact, I'm heading out the door this afternoon to go check out a 3 owner 73K mile car about 2 hrs away.

And Man, the PT look really makes the regal's lines stand out.

Well, it was a 3 owner car, and it did show 73K on the odo. The guy had Macco paint it (Crap) and let it sit in his yard for the past 7 years. Man, if that is the condition I'm gonna find these cars in for $9,000, I'm gonna have to rethink my goals.

I can get pics and more info on my friends that he is selling. I looked at it and it was in pretty good shape. Nice interior, pretty good paint (repainted obviously) and seemed to run good. The brakes have been changed over to vacum already. It doesnt' seem to have ever been wrecked and appears to be all stock other than the mufflers. He told me he wanted $10,500 for it, but is willing to "listen". If you are interested, let me know.

Well its not a GN but it is a Buick! (LS-2, Global West Suspension, 17" Billet Aluminum Buick Rallyes)

I think a PT GN would be killer as well, and you'd probably attract some attention as there aren't many Buicks in this game yet.

If you are looking for a GN u better have your money right..They are the most expensive G body cars from the 80s but most powerful so go figure....You can also just get a regular Regal and do the same for less...

SicMonte, I would like to see what was done to the frame, cutting & bracing to allow the wider tires.
      Thanks,

Heath Elmer is the man to talk to about pro touring a GN. He has had several cars in PHR. I think the name of his company is Arizona Rods and Restorations but I am not 100% sure. FYI my neighbor has a sweet 87 bone stock GN for sale for around $14k.

Even the most pricey GN is only just approaching what 1st gen Camaros are bringing, So in my mind, under 12k for a solid low mile GN to start with is a good investment.

I remember that one. I think it was a "silver state" car. IIRC Bill Osborne (the chassis guy that helped make "Big Red" happen) did the suspension.
