Well I broke down and bought one...

I've been wanting to upgrade my camera since I ran over my Sony 3 years ago.

Today I did the deed. I bought a new Canon 5D. It's awesome! I bought it as an investment because I've had a couple of freelance photo sessions. My Sony showed its limitations. Now I will only have skill limitations.

This camera is crazy. I have a lot of learning to do.

Here is a quick pic with my wide angle lens. I also included a zoom in on the hose clamp in the shot to show the resolution when the image is blown up.

And that's not even at the highest resolution setting on the camera. I think I can probably make posters from my images.

      Tony,
Take some detailed pictures of your Meziere water pump and yes I bought your book but it still doesn't show how the pump is mounted.
      Nice camera and ride.

Very cool Tony! I'm in the market for a camera too. I'd like to get one before our Pigeon Forge event. I'll have to keep in touch to see how you like it in a month. I bought a wide angle lens last week for my old 2mp camera and it works nice but, the camera is very limited.

      Wow a 5D, you did move up in the world. I have a 10D & a 30D. With a couple of "L" lenses. I do wedding photography on the side. I wanted a 1D Mark II N, but couldn't justify $4k yet.

I did all the research and decided to invest in the full-frame SLR as my first REAL camera.

It was a tough purchase. If I wasn't getting money from writing books (and doing the photography for them) and from taking photos for other writers, I would probably never spent the money. I bought one L lens and a Tamron wide angle. For now I'll be able to borrow all the rest of my lenses from my father in-law.

I never really knew photography was so expensive.

      Which L lens did you get? I have a 24-70 2.8 & a 70-210 2.8 IS, I also have a 24-135 IS (first lens), the 10D with grip, 30D with grip, 550 & 580 flash. Now I need to sell some pictures.....

      Hey Scott,

I got the 24-70 2.8 L lens. I'm happy with it's versatility. It shoots in lower light really well.

I started with the 28-135 3.5-5.6, but I love the 24-70 one even though it doesn't have the zoom as the other.
