I know it's been damaged by hurricanes you might want to check into that.

I have thought of that too. I have been there, but it was May of 93 or 94.
      Thanks,

I was in Cancun and Cozumel a few months ago. The hurricane did some damage, but they almost had everything cleaned up when I was there. Everything should be fine by now.

You will really like Cozumel. Beautiful Island and the locals are glad you are there. The water is amazingly clear, good eating and not overpriced.

Dude, you have to go to Carlos and Charlies. It is a pretty cool (Mexican) place to eat and they party like crazy there at night.

      Scot,

I went to Playa Del Carmen for my honeymoon in Oct 03....beautiful view of Cozumel in front of us. Perfect weather (peak huricane season) and no crowds. 40 minutes south of Cancun and 30 minute ferry to Cozumel. All the fun outdoor daytrip stuff was down by us, snorkling, scuba, underground rivers, Tulum ruins, etc. All the nightlife stuff is in Cancun and Cozumel has one of the best scuba locations in the world. I think Playa was cheaper than them though. We stayed at Iberostar Tucan (all inclusive). Very highly recommended!

My cruise ship stopped there a few years ago. If you have a chance to take an excursion to Chichen Itza you should do it.

That is if you are at all intrigued by really cool Myan ruins. It gets hot there but the tour was awesome. We had to take a medium sized plane (10 passengers) for about 45 minutes and then a 20 minute bus ride to nowhere. Otherwise it's like a two hour bus ride through the jungles.

If you are in decent shape, walk...I mean climb up the El Castillo. It's the only ruin you can climb on. It's an awesome view from up there. The jungle surrounding the ruins is great. Bring lots of water and a camera if you go up.

Without a tour guide to tell you all the history of each of the ruins...it won't be as good of a trip.

      Have fun,

I second Carlos and Charlies. It is a big hot spot for the cruise lines which dock within sight of them. Also, gotta do the booze cruises. Those mexicans know how to throw a party!! I participated in a fastest beer drinking contest on one of those. Made it through 6 rounds and faced off against two lineman from Oklahoma!! Smoked them both and was feeling pretty good about being top dog from Boston... that is until the finals when a 90 pound mexican humbled me pretty bad and swilled his beer down in like 1 1/2 seconds!!! MAN NEVER SEEN ANYONE DO THAT!!! Anyways COZUMEL is a big tourist attraction that really caters to tourism. It is a good place to go!!
