Spring adjusters cut, where exactly to weld bolt?

I have the Speedway spring adjusters which I've tapered and I'd like to weld a bolt on like others have done, but I don't have my car taken apart to be able to mock up where the bolt should be. Do you guys just weld it on the end of the taper? Does it sit on the inside, outside or directly on the circle of the adjuster? Thanks!

We welded the sring bucket to the lower control arm. But your speaking about a nut?

I think I know what your talking about, and it sounds like you would be relocating the shock to a differnt location other then stock.

If your speaking about putting a nut on top of the adjuster in the upper bucket, where are you mounting the shock?

Im asking because we wanted to do something simular, but didnt want to relocate the shock.

David Pozzi had an idea and some pics, but our conversations of the idea sorta died out, and we compromised by leaving the shock in the stock location, and having the adjuster on the bottom part of the spring, which Im sure will be real damm fun to adjust regardless.

The idea is that at the top of the spring pocket there is a small hole which can be used to hold the asdjuster in place if you weld a bolt to the top of the adjuster. This has nothing to do with the shock mounting.

Newbie, I suggest taking it apart to get your measurement to make sure it is correct.

My bad, I thought he was referring to a nut on TOP to adjust the ride level, which was what we wanted, and as you know, the shock runs right through that area......but yeah.....I see the light of the question now.

Weld the bolt or stud to the very top edge of the adjuster. This will be the surface that was created when the adjuster was cut. I welded two studs 180' apart and drilled two corresponding holes in the spring pocket. Then I fastened the adjusters up in the pockets with nuts and washers. They were a little hard to get to because they were under the upper shock mount, but I made it work. See Carl C's page. He is a member here and has good pictures. I also tried mounting the adjusters in the bottom spring pocket , but there was interference between the large diameter body of the QA1 shock and the inside of the adjuster when the suspension went all the way to the top or bottom.

I welded mine right at the end of the taper, centered directly on the adjuster. My subframe already had a hole in the correct location for the stud. It doesn't sound like all subframes have this hole. So you may have to drill it if yours doesn't.

I like NITRO's idea of puting two studs 180 degrees apart. With just one stud, the adjuster hangs down some when the spring is removed. It's not a major hassle with just one stud, but having two studs that hold it would be better.
