What wheels are you running with AFX spindles

What wheels are you guys/gals using with your AFX spindles? I am looking at getting wheels for my project to start mocking up the rear, and am wondering what my options were that have enough clearance for the front. Any help would be appreciated.

Ditto. All I need is to decide on wheels and I can get going with my brake and suspension parts.

Call out to Tito and the crew at ATS: Anything you can share as far as known setups that work for early f-bodys?

I know about the templates from T-Classics, but am looking for known compatible 18" wheels with that brake setup that I already have.

I have Kinesis wheels and measured before purchasing. I will have plenty of clearance left over with C5 six piston 13" Wilwoods.

I just ordered my AFX tall spindles today!

I have chrome Zenetti Fives which I just checked with the Touring Classics C5 Template. Looks like plenty of room. I have the TC Hybrid kit, but now I'm swapping the rotors out for the C5 ones

Anyhow, the Zenetti Fives I have are 18x8.5 front and 18x9.5 rear.

If I remember right, I have the 20mm offset which for the front is a little more than a 5.5 inch backspace.

I can't wait to bolt on the new spindles!

With that much offset make sure you have the short steering arms. If not you may run into tierod to rim clearance issues.

yeah, I had the wheels all mounted up with the stock disk brakes and no issues with the steering arms. I do have the shortest arms which did rub when I tried some 16 inch wheels, but with 18's, seems like lots of room.

FWIW.... I asked & was told the AFX spindle would not work w/the Touring Classics 'hybrid' 13" C4 brakes & that 3.5" BS was the max (my info was based on a 78-up G-body).

Your right, they won't work with the Hybrid Kit. I am swapping the rotors from C4's to C5's and all will be good at that point. ( I had said that, didn't I ;P )

Once I've got it together, I'll probably sell my freshly turned down drum brake hubs, the TC caliper brackets and the C4 disks. I even had the hubs and disks zinc washed. ( The AFX Spindles weren't available when I started collecting all this... Well, it's only money. :( )

3.5 inch backspace? Well, I guess it depends really on the width of the rim. I think most 1st gen guys were running something like a 4.5 BS when using an 8 inch wheel. Not sure... The 5.5 BS is on an 8.5 inch wheel and seemed to fit well with the stock disks. Track width is supposed ot be the same with the AFX spindles. I did dial out the turning stops on the speedtech arms a bit with the stock spindle. But I like the overall fit.

They will work, but they typically require a spacer. We put a set of AFX spindles on Wickedmotorhead's 87 Grand National with a set of TT2 in 17" and it needed a 1/4" spacer to clear the caliper.

thats not bad. did his car require longer studs or was it ok with the 1/4" spacer?? I have 17x8 fronts with 4"bs..and i already have the SC&C stage 2 kit....the spindles would just add on to that.

I ordered Boyd's for mine 18x8 with 5" BS - on Noel's suggestion I asked Boyd to insure 1" caliper clearance on the wheels. You might give Noel a call.

I'm using Forgeline WC3's 18" x 8" with Baer GT Plus brakes (basically their C5/C6 caliper w/ Eradispeed 2 pc rotors)
