Quadra-link people- How much exhaust clearance?

I am just about done with my Quadra-link and mini-tub job, and am waiting on a new 12 bolt housing to come in to complete the rear suspension.

My exhaust currently consists of 5 inch from the turbo all the way back to the front of the pass. rear tire. It has no muffler, and is way too loud, and smells inside the car. I was hoping the turbo alone would be enough of a muffler, as my last turbo setup had no muffler and was tolerable, but it was only 3 inch.

How much room is there for exhaust over the axle on a Quadra link car with coil overs? I would like to keep the exhaust single, mabye neck it down to 4 inch, and have a single 4 inch tailpipe, but if I have to I'll split the 5 into two 3s and do dual 3" tailpipes.

Ask Datsbad how he had his done. He's the only one I know with it all in and running with full exhaust. I think he went with three inch too.

Scott at DSE sent me some pictures. The same picture is in the super chevy with the test results.

You need to notch the gas tank.

I don't know, but you may need to look at oval stuff.

This is the best of the pictures from DSE. There is a fairly large notch in the tank. I think the angle needed to clear the shocks makes the angle by the corner of the tank. But it can be done with 3" round pipe.

You're right. I was thinking of something else. Oops. I thought he posted pictures too, but I can't find them.

I guess I'll dump the exhaust before the axle for now... and build a new gas tank with clearance for the exhaust after the Power Tour. I won't have all the rear suspension parts assembled into my car until this weekend (still waiting on an axle housing) but I didn't know it was going to be that tight.

      Hello guys , I did use 2.5 , but i know 3" would have fit .
Thanks to ricks they re made me a tank that was cut off on the sides for ANY exhaust clearance. with 335's and a stock dimension tank i dont think anything would have worked.

      QUADRA Link Exhaust Clearance

I would like to answer your questions regarding the exhaust clearance with our DSE QUADRA Link kit. The bolt-in stainless steel fuel tank that we sell comes with an angle built into the fuel tank to provides adequate clearance for a 3" round exhaust system to run all the way out the back. The pictures below show our prototype fuel tank on our DSE Test Car. Once we developed the angle required, we changed the design on all of our Camaro fuel tanks. They still have a 19 gallon capacity, but allow more exhaust clearance. If you do not have our fuel tank, you can still run your exhaust all the way out the back of the car; however, it is tighter.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact us. We are happy clarify any questions you may have.

      Thank you,
      DSE

I'm going to try and do it with a single 4 or 5 inch over the passenger side. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Chris- I'm possibly going with the single 4". I was thinking oval tubing in a few places.
