Can you paint a tire?

Me and my dad were thinking about putting the white letters on the outside instead of being hidden. But I was thinking it would be cooler if I could have them yellow kinda like nascar. So is it possible to paint the letters on the tires or maby something else that would do the trick? Any ideas?

The letters on drag slicks (and other racing tires) are painted on. Creating the stencil would probably be the hard part.

But what kind of paint. I'm guessing spray paint would just come off after a little while. Maby I'll try to find the "pen" and test it on another tire first.

What size tires? Goodyear makes yellow lettered tires in 15" sizes.

I'm not buying new tires for these wheels. One day I will get the 16's i have machined or maby just do 18" wheels like I have now.

I was thinking the paint would come off. Just tossing around cheap ideas that would change the car.

theres even a company out there that makes a decal (sort of) and i cant remember the details.

think "grease paint" it stays plyable and wont come off so easy.

Grease paint or colored ink. If you can get ahold of some dye for upolstery it might also be a good choice for something that will last longer. The grease pen will probably be the best choice if you don't have some kind embossed lettering on the tire and just keep touching it up after you detail the car each time you wash it.

Just use a normal paint pen in the color you want. You'll have to reapply occasionally depending on how dirty your tires get. I used normal white paint pens on my tires and they worked great. The only problem was from brake dust, but reapplication was quick. On a side note this was big brakes getting flogged on the track on a regular basis. It looks great though.

Dupli-color has tire pens....Red, yellow or white.
