      Trans-Am Chassis

Here are a few pictures of one of the chassis I built while working for John Miller during the 2000 season. More on the way if you'd like.

      Nothing Close Up

Sorry Dave don't have any close up. I do have a copy of the chassis blueprint that I plan to copy to disc and be able to post later on.

That tubular motor brace is wild. What is the reasoning behind that design vs. solid aluminum plate?

That's one huge 3 link. I took some photos of those cars a year or two ago at Laguna Seca. Everyone is using similar chassis designs. Do you know who designed this chassis in the first place?

They seemed to have a short panhard bar off the front of the rear axle, perhaps half the width of the frame rails? seemed pretty short to me.

      Tom Hoke!

Tom Hoke. The chassis was called MHG-1. M for John Miller-H for Tom Hoke- G for Mark Giles. There were two built with this design. All round tube except for the main frame perimeter. The 3 link bars are all 1.750 OD. We had a killer setup on the center top link to adjust for track conditions.

      tig man,
I sent you a PM. I don't see the pbar. Looks like a chassis mounted horiziontal watts. If that's the chase, it's a hot set up.

If your top link is mounted about 4 inches to the right of center and your "killer setup on the center top link to adjust for track conditions" is a screw jack that's driver adjustable, then I'm a suspension savant. Drop me a line, I'm real interested in this chassis.

I love seeing these chassis, every time you look at one you find something different or a new idea to use on your own project. It is such a shame that they canned the series, I was lucky enough to catch the last race they had at Long Beach, the only time I ever saw them run, it was amazing. Thin field, but still cool as anything.

      Nice work, awesome frame!

Tigman, killer pics keep them coming. Can you confirm this:

"If your top link is mounted about 4 inches to the right of center and your "killer setup on the center top link to adjust for track conditions" is a screw jack that's driver adjustable, then I'm a suspension savant."

I think a couple folks here would be interested.
