      In my area it depends on what you consider to be a machinist. If you just do production parts on a CNC you can earn $9 - $13 an hour depending on the shop. If you are a one off special parts shop and have multiple setups and do the setups you can look for $16 - $25 per hour. It's really tough to define machinist these days with all of the programs and the way shops are setup. If you have your own shop and equipment you can get a whole lot more.
