my hooker motor mount plates install
Just want to share my experience with the hooker plates. I have
a 69 camaro with 302/350ss frame mounts and engine mounts.
(which are the lowest mounting setup in 69). I have the DSE
firewall smoothing plate also. I had the t56 bellhousing attached
would not fit in due to angle. The only way to get it in was
to attached the frame mounts to the engine mounts and slide it
without the core/radiator front end on the car . The motor hits
the firewall and needs the have the firewall pushed in 3/4
of an inch in some areas ,my new DSE plate would need major
reworking. I have spent too much time smoothing my firewall
to smash it in everywhere. If you have a complete car
and use these mounts you would have to drop the motor
straight down into the frame mounts. I dont see how
you could get the engine with a trans in -attached. The S&P
mounts moved the engine foward an inch and 1/4 and had no issues. Engine in- no problems pleny of clearence.

If you are running the Hooker headers and S&P mounts, let me know the clearance.1969 CAMARO RS

I didn't order the headers until I saw how the motor fit. The last guy here posted up those pics on the mounts and said there was only 3/8"
of an inch behind his motor and he had no trans on. These mounts
also raise the motor 3/8" higher and around 1 1/2" back. Both heads
are hitting against the firewall. The frame mount on the drivers side
bolted into the subframe ok, that side would need minor reworking
of the firewall. The pass. side the motor is hitting everywhere
and the framemounts are 3/4" from there stock holes in the frame.
I would really like to use those hooker headers but don't want to be
stuck with them if they don't fit. It looks like I will be using the S&P
headers and losing around 15-20hp I would think being an 1 5/8 tube
and shorty design
