cracks in my subframe around swaybar mount

      Hey all,

I just noticed today that where the swaybar bolts to the frame, my subframe is cracked about 4+ inches. It is cracked like this on both the drivers and passenger sides.

Anyone hear of this before? I'm planning to take it to a friends and weld up the cracks, but I was very suprised to find this.

I am guessing that he is talking about the front...... only because I have had to fix this problem on quite a few client cars. If it were in the rear, it normally just rips it right out of the frame rail before you ever notice a crack.

Chad, I normally make up some plates with thru holes for the fastners from 3/16" flat stock and weld it to the frame. If you dont make up some plates, make sure you 'stopdrill' the end of the crack before you weld it. This will re-enforce the frame and stop any possible future problems.
